And never ever put your sentry out in the open. Put it someplace where YOU can have your back to a wall, therefore the spy cant backstab kill you. And of course shoot everyone who comes near your sentry. Usually most spies are too dumb to change their disguise. And you can kill most before they even get to your sentry, or at minimum wound them badly enough that you can whack them with a wrench.

lol

It's usually hard to put your sentry anywhere but out in the open. I can count on one hand the number of times I was actually unable to manouver into a position to backstab the engineer after sapping the gun. One time on Dustbowl Stage 3, I kept humping the dudes gun trying to hop over to stab him just after sapping; guess it gave me away😉.

You just have to know where to place sentries, even on dustbowl. Suppose even your sentry is out in the open, at least you as the engineer can have your back to a wall so that it's not as easy to get back stabbed. I can count on 1 hand the number of times I've been back stabbed in the last 2 weeks on TF2 as an engie.

Agreed. I've rarely been back-stabbed on dustbowl stage1 or stage2. Stage 3 is harder to have a good sentry position and be safe, but if you do it right you won't die though your sentry might. I've dominated multiple spies on dustbowl. Set up a sentry and dispenser side by side in the gated tunnel at stage2cap2 and no spy can get behind you. Just shotgun everyone who approaches and you can dominate any spy.

But the whole point of being an engineer in TF2 is to have a teammate go pryo/heavy and protect your back while your dispenser feeds him ammo.

Also with sentries, you should set up a crossfire. So if a spy backstabs the other sentry will turn him into paste. I believe the sentries fire 360, so you just need line of sight.

Agreed. I think it is important to organize when you have multiple engineers. So often I see a group of Engies put all of their crap in one spot (so you have 3 sentries plus dispensers all in one relatively small area) which really just makes it easier for Spies and/or Demos, or an uber Pyro/Heavy/Soldier to knock out. Spread things out a bit and get some cross-fire going, that way they have to attack each Engie's setup one at a time.

I didn't like the original TF for HL1...

The original TF is for Quake and none other. TFC was indeed pretty sloppy to me too, but TF.. That's a different story.

Also, TF2 does indeed rock.

Yep..i used to play the hell out of TF for Quake and HL: TFC was alright. Im debating on buying TF2 i gotta see some videos on gameplay action

You guys still playing much? I've been doing SP gaming lately (Stalker, Crysis, Bioshock) but I plan on getting back to some TF2 soon. So add me up, TheVrolok.

I was playing a couple other games too, including STALKER and Bioshock, but I can't seem to put TF2 down now. Is there any better feeling than flanking the opposing team as a Heavy with a medic in tow and laying waste to all before you? I think not.

Only better feeling is doing it with a pyro.

Makes those kills REAL up close and personal.

Plus you get to hear all the screams for medic and all the characters yelling FIRE!! Or the demoman saying I'M BURNING BURNING BURNINGGGG

I've been playing it rabidly since it came out, and I'm almost ashamed to say I'm sick of it. It's far, far too over balanced. The attacking team always wins if there are more than 20 people in the game. Sentry guns are useless now. Getting non-crit oneshotted by scouts and engineers gets old fast. The upcoming medic achievements are fucking retarded.

Valve is dropping the ball on this.
