The CRT measurement doesn't include the whole bezel. Every CRT monitor I can remember always lost about 1" of screen size duel to the bezel. The picture that dell shows makes it look like you have to subtract 5" of bezel to determine the viewable screen size.

I know what you mean. I think that web page just illustrates how Dell measures their screens.
As far as I can recall, CRT were always measured from the edge of the viewing surface. When flat panels first hit the market, they were measured from the edge of the case to make them seem larger than they actually were.

You havent been purchasing CRT's long. They used to be sold in total diagonal size, which included the bezel. there was a class action lawsuit against this and that brought about the change in how they measure the size.
