Movies would rather that people dont' ask questions like that. I also find the numbers fairly meaningless without the context of number of ticket sales.Originally posted by: Wingznut
I wish they'd report such things as the amount of tickets sold instead of money grossed. Every other year there's a movie that breaks records, yet we aren't comparing apples to apples.
Did more people see Spider-Man 2 than Spider-Man, or is this stat just a reflection of higher prices?

Spidey came close, but not close enough.

But there's one big difference. The Matrix trilogy sucked, Spider-Man doesn't

Spider-Man 2 also scored the top Wednesday ever, soaring past The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King's $34.5 million. Like that movie and many other fan-driven blockbusters, Spider-Man 2 began at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, generating around $5 million from those showings alone.

I agree.
This, http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted/ is the closest thing cause they adjust for inflation. Gone with the Wind was ridiculous, over 1 billion dollars!

Something isn't right about that system. Gone With the Wind, released 1939, unadjusted gross $198,655,278, adjusted gross $1,218,328,752.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, released 1937, unadjusted gross $184,925,486, adjusted gross $657,270,000.
As for Spidey 2, will I feel like I'm watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers again like I did with the first one?
