Well I think I'm going to try to install it today, I copped out yesterday and didn't try it yet because frankly I've got too much hardware laying around..I might sell the board, we will see..I really need to try it out today though, sometime this afternoon more than likely...This is the first time I've actually held an XP 1700, my other one came pre-assembled, I must say it's very light in comparison to my 1.2 tbird. It's amazing to see the chips getting this way.

<< I ordered a 1ghz athlon from TCWO with a heatsink so i got a one year warranty. I know computer stuff, and i put my firend's pelter on my processor (we tested it before and it worked)... but it didnt work properly that time. The processor burned out and i immediatly contacted TCWO and they took it back and sent me a new one with no charge, and they gave me a free pack of lifesavers. I was really impressed with their speed and support. I enjoy purchasing from there all the time. I think they are a great place to buy from. I work at CompUSA and we wouldnt do that for our customer, but TCWO did it for me! >>

I dunno about anyone else, but that sounds a lot like you either put very little pressure on the peltier or put it on backwards.

I just wanted to throw another thumbs up for TCWO in there. My athlon actually just fried and they are readily accepting it, (under warranty of course.) I noticed there was a comment earlier about customer service problems, all i know is the three times I've called wait time was no longer than 5-10min. and the three people I talked to were very friendly. Heck the first guy was on the phone with me for nearly 20min. while I figured out exactly what i wanted and he stopped me from making a mistake of buying a duron when for $5 more I could get the athlon, and if not for his reccomendation of the heatsink, I would most likely be SOL with my current fried chip.

That's all just another positive comment for TCWO.

Okay guys, I just now finished up the install, I got a new case today so I figured it would be a good time to see how that antec 1030 blue looks with this mobo and proc...I have no problems to report whatsoever, very clean, I'm running XP and as a matter of fact I just ripped out my ASUS a7m266 mobo and proc and put in this mobo and xp 1700, it boots into windows just fine, I'm planning on reformatting, although I do wonder if xp truly is at a stage where it is supposed to be plug and play..perhaps some benchmarking to see if this is using drivers efficiently or not.. oh one thing, did I miss where the speaker pin for posting goes? I didn't happen to see it on my motherboard diagram...maybe I'm just tired and missed it..anyways bottom line is, the HSF is a wimpmaster and a @# to get on(BTW what temps are you guys running? I'm getting like 57C on the hardware temps in the bios just when booting up into xp, THAT"S REALLY WARM--of course this is with a wimpmaster fan too), other than that this rig is running smooth, especially for ripping hardware out and putting new in.. :D now, any suggestions on a better cooler for this? I've got a swiftec 462 but I don't have any of the nylon shoulder dealios that go into the holes that bolt since the new motherboard doesn't have them grounded.

for those of you who have received your combo, can you tell me whether the motherboard comes with an ata100 cable? just trying to figure out whether what else i need to order to put my system together. thanks!

never mind. i noticed the picture at newegg has the cables with the mobo, so i'm assuming the mobo from tcwo is the same.

I just got my combo, it actually came with 2 ATA100 IDE cables, and 1 floppy cable. The heatsink and fan they sent is HUGE. I can't wait to get some memory and a decent PSU to put this baby together.

Wow, great deal! If tcwo keeps this up, Fry's / Outpost may just have some combo competition!

yep thats exactly the heatsink and fan I got, Coolmaster DP5-6I31C. I've only build one other AMD cpu system recently and that was the retail box duron 950/ecs motherboard combo and it wasn't this big.

Its like a 60mm fan mounted on a radiator.

Just got it today and I noticed the idle temp is ~139F/61 degree celsius with the case closed, is this normal? Room temp is 75 degrees, and I'm using an antec case and antec 300 watt power supply and no additional fans. Compound is Artic Alumina, and fan is the fan that cheap coolermaster fan that came along the deal. At this rate it might pass 70 celcius with a full load?
