srs: geico has always been the cheapest for me. it's my parents and me on the plan, maybe that has something to do with it.

I need to look at that when mine expires, although due to this fucking stupid state it will probably still be ridiculous.

Geico was the cheapest for me when I checked recently.
SafeAuto was the most expensive. They don't keep you legal for less...

I thought the same when I signed with Progressive. They refused to give me a better deal however when I added another car. Went with Liberty Mutual instead who was 300 or so cheaper for the same coverage.
Didn't have any tickets/accidents at the time. Have one for speeding right now.

Rental car and roadside are 2 things you can probably drop, (if you are a man at least), maybe not if you got kids or a wife. Depends on your state, but I fail to carry BI while I do carry comp/collision. My rates are significantly different (larger) than yours, but as I shop every 6 months for insurance, are the sweet spot on the scale of (shitty <-> good) and (cheap <-> expensive).

When I was shopping for new insurance a while back, Progressive had good rates, but then I noticed the rate was a 6-month promotional rate, after that it goes up $50 or something per 6 months. So if you are getting that quote on their website, might want to make sure it's not the same thing, or else your rate after the first 6 months is $539

I switched from Geico to Progressive but before I did that, I called Geico to see if they can do better, they said NO, I replied, so your commercial is a lied, 15 minutes does not save you 15% or more.

Progressive was still like $200 cheaper even after the $50 6-month promotion PLUS got 10% off my home insurance because I was with them.

Piss Off Geico!

havent had insurance for quite a while, but when i did progressive was consistently the cheapest. great service whenever i had a claim too.

I had progressive. I think that pay in full today is just an incentive to switch. When your next 6mo come around it gets more expensive.

Still over $200/month for me and I drive a fucking Honda Civic. (That's just for liability)

How old are you and where do you live?

I use Wawanesa in CA. $1200 a year for full coverage, $250-300 deductibles. Im 19, been driving since 16 with a clean record.

Everywhere else I quoted gave me $1200 for six months for liability only including Progressive..

When I actually looked into it like a year ago it was $200+/month and that was with my Honda Civic. Fresh drivers license. 19 at time, male, Portland Oregon area.

Now I have two tickets on my record though. Whatever.

I just pay my parents $100/month for insurance and it's covered on their plan. I'm not renewing at the beginning of the year because I am moving anyway.

I switched to Progressive this summer as well. It was like 60% of the price of my State Farm policy, and it is actually better coverage too.

I also installed one of their MyRate devices. Yeah, so it's technically "spying" on how I drive, but I also got something like a 28% discount based on just three things: the amount of driving I do, the times at which I drive (you want to avoid late night driving), and the fact that I rarely hit the brakes hard. Far as I can tell, it doesn't even ding me for speeding (even though I rarely go more than 5 over).

i checked a few months ago to see what the diff woudl be Both Esurance and Progressive are 1/2 of what i pay geico, next time i have to reup im changing

I pay $110/month for $1 million coverage for a 1998 Chevy Venture (one-way collision only) here in Toronto,Canada is that good or bad? But when I added a Toyota RAV-4 1997 and had to include my wife I had to pay $240 for that policy, plus the $110..... it sucks.

I had Progressive but looked at other insurance as I added a 2nd car/2nd driver. Switched to Geico and it dropped a few hundred for 6 month coverage.

Wawanesa covers CA and Oregon. Check out how much it might cost you. They have always been substantially cheaper than everyone else for me.

$1M in coverage? Why so much? Is there a law? That just seems insane. Are you sure it's collision coverage too? Because I thought collision referred to damage to vehicles, and if you have a '98 minivan it might not be worth getting any collision at all (or at least a minimal level). Liability, on the other hand, is what you want. Plenty of medical coverage is necessary no matter what you drive.

I think $500,000 is the highest amount I've seen for per-accident coverage. I have $250,000 per person or $500,000 per accident coverage. Never seen $1 million. Maybe things are different in Canada.

Yeah, insurance companies have such complicated ways of determining rates that you always have to shop around. Some people might get the best rate from Progressive, others might get it from Geico, Allstate, or someone else. In my case, Geico would have been the most expensive option despite being thought of as a "discount" insurer.

Geico has treated me like a queen though when I've had to call on them for claims. I wonder what Progressive does when you really need them...

State Farm > *

If everybody stopped being Progressive & Geico customers, their TV commercials would go away. 2011 resolution time, go.

Ha! I remember those days! I had 2 speeding tickets before I was 18 and my insurance was $225/mo for liability on my Civic.
Now that I am old, married and have nothing on my record, I pay like $30/mo for liability on my Accord.
