Probably either gold farming or just cranking out level 70 accounts for resale. Good money to be had either way, I'd imagine.

Jesus some people have lots of money or no expenses. If I spent 6K on WoW subs and then another 15-20K on equiment. I would break the bank big time.

It would be cooler if he had a powerful machine, and running 44 clients on virtual PCs on the ONE machine :)

As much as people love to insult this guy, from what I read in another forum the guy is an insomniac that sleeps 3 hrs a night tops. He just found a hobby to make use of his extra time, and he probably sells a lot of the gold he rakes in to reimburse the cost of the setup. A setup like that could net you a few thousand bucks a month easy just by selling gold / items from the game.

"probably" making money does not make it any less pathetic.

Insane but I find it hard to believe he's doing all that just to play a hobby. Like others here I suspect farming for profit and most likely account/character selling as well. Big money in it if your set up to do it. Which he is apparently.

So in your opinion - what hobby would not considered weak, sad, lame, etc?

At least he's doing something HE enjoys [and is probably profiteering from as well]. If he is profiteering from his hobby - then more power to him. How many of you can make the same claim? :)

Why is it so everyone here, or almost everyone tend to think that the guy in question *should* be laid by now or have to get laid or... I mean what's up with getting laid or not? Does that make him any better? There's non-gamers in life who can't get their "chance" with women until their late 30's or mid 40's, and no one speaks about them? And are those guys any worse than you and me? I don't get it, is the sexualization of our society driven us that dependent on our overall life quality if we've been laid or not?

Sex is a fundamental part of a person's life and much of our psychology is modeled after it.

It doesn't make anyone better than anyone else but having a strong sexual health is much more important and fulfilling than spending 5k a year on a MMORPG.

Maybe if he was sacrificing his social and sexual life to concentrate on intellectual growth (like many great minds did and still have) but hey... to each his own.

Yes indeed to each their own, but sex being fundamental, I disagree, anyone can live a great and productive life without having a single sexual relation in his/her entire life, and I'm not even referring to the religious aspect of such a choice, it can also be a disability. Not everyone on this planet can actually physically have sex, not having any of it doesn't kill, never did, and never will, sex is a reproductive mean, it was never meant to increase our health nor "just having fun", that's where humans intervened and changed much of its definition and reason of existence.

We could discuss a lot about this. I certainly don't agree with what that guy is doing with his life just playing WoW and spending/wasting so much money and time on that, but let's just put that "not being laid because of it" part aside, it doesn't hold any ground, there's too many other things in anyone's life that can result in "not being laid" than just being a "nerd" and playing video games.

Off roading.
Shooting.
Model rockets.
Water colors.
Little league coach.

Things that most computer nerds dont know about or dont consider hobbies.

Oh, and its profiting, not profiteering. Thats something else entirely.
And by definition, once your hobby starts making you money its no longer a hobby. Its a 2nd job. In his case maybe a first job. That he enjoys it is totally acceptable. There is no rule you need to hate your job. If you can do something you like and make money then I applaud you. Not everyone is so lucky, especially in this economy.

No way is this guy selling gold or selling those characters, 0% chance he is doing that, multi-boxers are frowned upon enough, then you throw in 36 accounts, no way in hell he could get away with selling anything without getting flagged by the Blizzard ban hammer.

how do you "play" all of them at once?

Dual-Boxing.com isn't loading but most dual-boxers use KeyClone.

so all 36 characters do the exact same action at the exact same time?

Keyclone will send the keystrokes to all instances of Warcraft that are on your network, i have done 5 in the past, works great, almost the same as having 5 wireless keyboards, 5 receivers for the keyboards and only using the one keyboard for input, it's a software solution. If he had 36 pc's he would be able to do teh same thing with a Vetra hardware switch. It's an excellent program and will not get you banned from Warcraft as you are manually pressing the keys, no automation.
