Considering the personal question that you setup when you do the account can't be changed, I highly suggest contacting Blizzard and getting the account back.

Well he now knows the Secret question answer because I gave it to him after receiving my money...

Has he already changed the Email associated with the account? If so, you're pretty much screwed.

Yes - Looks like I might have to talk with a district attorney if I can't sort this out with him

:(

that sucks man. I've been thinking of selling my account as well but now i'm a little scared.

how much did it go for BTW and how much stuff did you have?

I sold it for 400 dollars. It was 4/5 merc

jeez, that sucks :(

I have a fully PVE epiced out Druid (dps/tanking/healing) gear with about 6000g and a ton of other good items. Im' sure I could get a lot for it, but damn...I guess I will have to get a money order payment.

hope you get your money back and everything sorted out.

Your best bet here is to be the one in better communication with paypal.

Call them up ASAP and find out what steps you have to take to prove that this guy is scamming you.

Change the account info ASAP, too.

Is it me or is it a guaranteed scam when someone sells a WoW/EQ account and takes paypal as payment? It seems to have the same success rate as getting millions from that Nigerian Prince.

I would change the account info if I could, but I already gave him all of the info and he changed everything

I sold my account back in July using Paypal. No problems at all. Your best bet is to do some hard research on the buyer before accepting their money.

since you still have the original games still, could you call blizzard and tell them your account was stolen and have them reset it?

Well he was verified and had 23 transactions. I thought that that was enough proof

I'd blame Blizzard more for this problem than PayPal. If Blizzard allowed the sale of accounts, and provided a secure method of doing it for both parties involved, this would not be a problem.

Most likely any shipping address he gave you to send the CDs is not real. Maybe that is what sellers could do. If you actually sent the physical CDs before giving them the account information, then you'd have a real address for them. Once he gets the CDs he would have to read back the serial number to you to confirm that the address was real, then you could give him the account info.

I hope you at least removed your credit card information from the automatic billing before selling it.

good news for you is if you have original cc+DL you can scan or send copies and recover your account even w/o the secret password
report it stolen and that they somehow found out your secret word, and they will tell you what they need to prove its yours

someone I know does this to scam money from people by reselling his account...
pretty despicable, but in this case it can help you.

Unfortunately buddy, you're out of luck. It's IMPOSSIBLE to win this paypal claim, unless you have the sellers verified shipping address, and you actually shipped something to him. In addition, if the amount is over 400 dollars, you need to have signature confirmation as well, to prove that the item was shipped/received. This is the ONLY way you can win this case. Paypal will not look at any other information.

I was in the exact same situation as you. I sold an account, didn't get the verified address, and less than 5 minutes after the transaction was completed, and I had passed along my info, the buyer filed a claim to reverse the transaction. Even though it was blatantly obvious that I was being ripped off, they wouldn't find it in my favor. A total waste of time.

Fortunately, Blizzard restored my account/characters in a couple of weeks. Just petition a gm through their e-mail system.

But yeah, I'm really starting to hate paypal. Their system is setup to support scammers.

Oh - so I can send them all the information and they can move those characters back to my own account (if I make a new one)?

I sold an account and 5 beta invites to BC (or was it 6)... used paypal and did not get scammed on a single one.

Yes, paypal could care less for what actually happened. Since you have not shipped anything they don't really care that you are being scammed. Despite what info might actually MATTER in your situation all they care about is delivery confirmation.

I had this happen in the past (kid was using parents CC info on ebay, parents found out and reversed the charges). Paypal didn't care one bit that nobody was disputing whether an item was actually received, they just go by their asinine policy. I really wish something besides paypal was as widely accepted.

I've done it with no problems. Although it is becoming MUCH more common these days (scammers).

To the OP: If the account you tried selling was registered in your name then you may be able to contact Blizzard account services and fax them your drivers license or any other personal documents that verify your identity. They may help you if you explain the situation.

no, you get your old account back

the may ask for a photo copy/scan of
1 drivers license
2 last 4 digits of original cc + name + address
3 original key used to register

then they'll ask you for a new secret word, they may have called my friend, I don't really remember

then your account is back in your possession

Pretty sure the only way for someone to transfer characters from one account to another is for both accounts to have been opened by the same person. He'd have to use your name and info in order for this to happen.

I could be wrong though.

Only the last names have to be the same (I tried it before) and I gave him my full name
