I don't really see the problem... I mean they auto-renewed me once but I just called and said "Ah, no, you're taking that off" and they did. I start looking for cheap 12 month cards when I get down to about 6 months.
The thing is, when you go buy something, you know what you are getting. I paid for one month. I shouldn't have to look in the fine print to find out that this is a recurring cost.
At a bare minimum, they should let you turn of the automatic renewal via the web site. Why do they make the effort to tell me that automatic renewal is on even though I don't have a choice? If they make it look like it was a choice at one point, why wasn't it an option when I paid for 1 month in the fist place?
MSFT is a profit whore that cares less about the customer. In the long term, customer satisfaction is what is important.
Why do you think Home Depot asked no questions of my father in law when he returned a used toilet? Because HD is in the business of low prices and customer satisfaction. MSFT is in neither business. And in the long term, businesses that don't keep customers happy become ghosts.
Well I'll just say MS keeps me happy.
To each his own.
