Wow. Guy I know got owned on his father's will.

So this guy I know's dad just died. He never had a great relationship with his father but he always thought it was just strained, not hated or anything.

So his dad dies and they pull out his will--the guy was disowned by his father. His dad never told him he was disowned and blocked out of the will.

He also never told him his sister would get the whole kitty--$16 million dollars.

To summarize, he mourns the loss of his father, discovers he's been disowned in a will, and loses his half of $16 million dollars.

Fuck me.

Well..how's his relationship with his Sister? If it's not too bad, then perhaps she'll share some of that wealth?

I'd believe it - my biological father's family screwed me out of the family will because my mother remarried and had my last name changed [my step dad adopted me]. So to punish me - they remove me from the will.

He and his sister absolutely despise each other... so no money changing hands there.

Harsh story for you too.

Let this be a lessen to all you kiddies, be kind to your parents if they are worth millions of dollars. Otherwise you can treat them like crap because you aren't getting anything anyway.

That's right. Rich people are always right.

Yup. Has nothing to do with son doing something stupid enough, many times over for the father to disown. Short of, of course disowning because he likes buttsechs. Then it's obvious who the asshole is. Or would it?

It's their money, not YOUR money. If they leave it to you, then it is your money. You don't deserve it. You don't have a right to it. You have only a right to hope you get some of it.

Where are you getting this apocryphal info from? I'm just saying that it's weird that you arbitrarily give the benefit of the doubt to the father instead of the son.

That's why I'm spending every cent I have and leaving my kids nothing. It prevents future family problems if they all equally hate me after I die. Gives them something in common to bind and bring them together.

You keep using that word - I don't think it means what you think it means.

(The word you're looking for is "disinherit." If he was disowned he would have known it.)

That was the word used when described to me. I don't care either way.
