DAPUNISHER,
Thanks for the input.

Question (this isn't sarcasm, I'm really asking)
I'm still new to this so I'm a little confused, the VIA chipset on this motherboard has an unlocked PCI/AGP bus.
So i'm stuck with a limited OC potential.
By changing the HT frequency how does that let me increase the FSB if the PCI/AGP increases with it also?

So far I've only been able to increase the FSB to 227 before I get the dreaded "your OS is missing or screwed up" messages.

It would seem that the announcement of the Pro series will fix this , but unfortunately isn't available yet.
I may have bought two weeks early 😛

733 is really not all that much for a chip - in the days i paid 350.00 for a 1.33tbird and 419.00 for a geforce GTS 64. Think about all the other stuff i buy, its really not all that bad. We pay an extra 1000 for a spoiler on a car?

If there is a version of clockgen that works with your board you can still jack the fsb up by using a divider so the pci and AGP don't get too out of range.

beyoku

This is the second most expensive CPU I've ever bought.
The first was the fastest cpu available for about 6 days LOL The 400Mhz came out right after.
It was an Intel P2 333 Mhz.
When it came out it cost $833 and I paid it, DOH!
😀

How about $7,980 option for a spoiler (+ some side skirts) on a Porsche 911? :Q

The X800Pro has dropped from $489 on debut to $439 already in 3 days and it still hasnt reached its MSRP yet! ouch.

Nice system SilverBack.

the best way around this is to get a pci card that'll let you run out of frequency....

i used a SATA raid pci card so i could run 289 fsb with no problems

SATA up and running now
Sisoft Sandra
BenchMark
84 mb/s

Not as fast as a SCSI or Raptor RAID setup but dog gone good anyway 🙂

Did you have an add in board for your video card as well?

Has anyone tried to over clock an Opteron 146 HE? It only produces around 50 - 55 Watts rather then the regular Opteron 146 and its 89 Watts if it can be overclocked it would be quite easy to cool.

No, the opteron requires registered ecc memory as the fx-53 does not

Ummmm... maybe I haven't kept up with recent developments, but I'm pretty sure it does since it's a socket 940 CPU just like the Opteron.

Ahhh... ECC, registered... blah... where the hell is socket 939 so I can use my Mushkin Level One PC3500? 😀

 You're likely to be using your credit card even more Jeff 😉

Two this week.
I work two more days of overtime this week, so maybe two more next 🙂
I already have a 4 drive RAID adapter, so I don't need that.
