I kind of side with the girl on this one based on the boston newspaper article. The firm posted on CRAIGSLIST for a position. They initially offered a certain amount and then later reneged on that. At this point I would have been extremely hesitant myself because the firm sounds unprofessional. There was a possible miscommunication about whether or not she had accepted, but she hadn't signed anything. It seemed to me that their entire relationship to that point was largely online and through email. I see nothing wrong with writing an email or leaving a voicemail. I find what the firm did to be equally as immature as emailing a cancellation. What kind of idiot orders business cards and letterhead before the person has even shown up?
The lawyer was the one who struck the first insulting blow by calling her immature and unprofessional despite the fact that he posted for a lawyer position on craigslist and then reneged on a salary offer.
She responded to an insult with an insult, but she was right... a good laywer would have had her sign a contract before ordering supplies. He clearly intended his next response as a threat to her career.
