Yes, but those dividends were already in US dollars (probably a money market fund) and insured by the SIPC.

It sounds like Coinbase is a decent site for trading coins, at least until they're "hacked" and all the money vanishes :)

For ultimate security, best practice is to store in wallets you and only you control, but you lose the opportunity to react rapidly due to having to wait for the requisite number of confirmations your preferred exchange requires. Such is the gamble you must take just to gamble with day trading. You can store on your wallet and when you think you may begin thinking about selling, probably transfer in so you can better time the market. But no matter what, you'll have to have funds on an exchange in the first place to trade, so that risk is always present.

Oh and, just a hunch, looking at chart technicals for the past few hours and watching patterns form in the indicators, there looks to be at least a semi-explosive swing priming, and I'm thinking that's on the upward slope. Especially VEN.

As always, a disclaimer: I'm a rank amateur at this, and as with any squeeze, it can rebound quickly in the opposite direction. This message also probably expires 5-15 minutes from now. I'm also not putting money where my mouth is, I haven't invested a single hard earned dime in quite some time now, I've just been managing my profits, diversifying, and of course trying to maximize gain during momentum swings if I can catch them early. I've been wrong numerous times before and watched an early profit turn deep red due to an abrupt swing the wrong way and timing the purchase way too deep into the swing as it was. Most of the time they come back in the long run, it just depends how fast you are trying to time a longer-term rise.

On that note, I'll continue to say that XEM is looking like a great play in the soonish time frame. The new C++ codebase is in active subscriber beta testing on the commercially-developed variant of the NEM code, with plans to bring it to the NEM base, with that change because called Catapult.

I have a feeling no one knows anything as usual and price will still stay the same after Feb.

It's probably worth noting that Coinbase insures the 2% of coins that they maintain online for trading, the rest is locked up offline.

To others, yes, usually conversion of coin to USD (and vice versa) on-exchange (if they support it, I think most do) is instant, off-exchange (like to a bank) takes a day or three. Rate of exchange is at the click time, not transfer time.

A large part of me wants to see crytocurrency crash and burn. It's not like Nvidia needs any more reasons to milk Pascal and delay any future GPU development. Prices on video cards need to get back to being based on demand driven by reasons other than mining.

Yes let crypto crash and burn because you have to pay perhaps 100 more for your video gaming card.

I would say the same thing even if I had 0 stake in crypto.

Blockchain is changing the world soon
But screw it right? Gotta play that call of duty

Only $100 more?

People are paying double the retail price on used video cards. The supply of new video cards in retail is extremely thin to non-existent.

Let the mainstream that have recently flooded onto this have all their hopes and dreams die in a blaze of overheated video card glory.

How much video card is that Corgi worth? You need to be thinking along these lines if you really want to get serious about cryptocurrency.

He may recoup some of the money spent on those video cards once the market collapses (crosses fingers). Just don't sell on this forum. You can't sell more than two of any one item. He would instantly be labeled a reseller.

Oh look, "I use an info taken from another thread and use it here" method. So clever since 2002.

:) I do love my Corgi, but it can be very tough. :(

Hey, I'm pretty sure the rights to use that GIF on AT belong exclusively to brianmanahan. :colbert:

Did you ever stop to think that this could well be due to US monetary policy (eg. printing money like crazy), and not due to "miners"? And that, just possibly, Cryptocurrency may offer financial salvation from that fact?

<okay, thinking about it>

<done thinking about it>
Yeah, that's ridiculous. If true, prices on all commodities would be skyrocketing in dollar terms. They aren't.

US monetary policy is causing the high prices / shortages of GPUs? I admit, I didn't stop to think of that.

Just the other day, I wondered why that gallon of milk cost me $20. I didn't realize that it was broadly tied to skyrocketing GPU prices.

I think that is what the large sell walls are doing for VEN. They are suppressing the price to acquire more for the inevitable surge. The whales can only hold back so much volume, and VEN trades with little enough volume that the sell walls are very effective, but once a certain amount of exposure is reached, the true price should be found.

edit: just added in some funding, won't be available until next Friday so hopefully there is more downward pressure on VEN and no new news hits until after that point so I can get in for hopefully around .005 (currently .0056)

Well my magic eight ball said Results Unsure so... lol

But yeah chart reading is never an exact science for any asset type, but they can be used for shorter periods of time to get a rough gauge for momentum turning points. But as noted, I've had minimal pure success via this effort, though overall they still look great.
