They should make the cord so that it splits in half when someone trips on it and electrocutes the idiot in question.

Actually it was microsoft that invented the breakaway cord for the Xbox.

Clearly, you've never met the average computer user. EVERY computer product is for people who lack common sense.

Anyways, Apple's current OS has always been 2-3 years ahead of the latest Windows release. Vista is a prettified XP with a bunch of features ripped directly from 2005's OS X 10.4.

Regardless of your OS preference, to argue that Apple's is less advanced than Windows, is just idiotic.

You are certifabily insane if you belive this nonsense. XP came out way before osx and many of the features that found their way into osx were already implimented in XP for some time.

Haha...no.

OS X was released in March, 2001.

Windows XP in ~October of 2001.

To somewhat play Devil's Advocate, Windows XP is essentially at it's core a jazzed up version of Windows 2000 which would clearly predate that OS X release date you mentioned (assuming it is correct). Furthermore it is pretty asinine to think that Windows XP could have been developed in those six months between March and October. It would have well be in Beta testing by then and as such it is hardly time enough for Microsoft to rip off OS X features, program them, test them, then bundle them for shipping.

Yup. Apple provides premium computing. From the small details like the power cord to the best user interface developed yet, it's just better than other pc manufacturers. OP, you're a moron. PS. I just wanted to all in the apple club know that there is a meeting this next tuesday with the topic being "Batteries".

I get entertained when Mac Fanboys (e.g. preslove) clueless try to argue that every little thing Apple does is the best thing ever.

Oh, and "preslove" before you accuse others of reading comprehension problems, you may want to make sure that you do not have the same issue as well (see your last post where you quoted Anand using the phrase "in my opinion" - just think about that one for a while).

Um... I put the opinion of Anand way above any of the mac bashers in this thread. Most of them have never even used a new mac and have no idea what they are talking about. I'm not a fan boy, mac's have their problems, too, but the interface and the small touches make it a better experience.

http://www.anandtech.com/mac/showdoc.aspx?i=2740&p=1

When I first started using a PowerBook G4 over a year ago it quickly turned into the best experience I'd ever had with a notebook.

That was using an obsolete, POS, ibm chip. And it was a better experience for him than any other notebook pc using superior hardware.

So, Is Anand a freaking fanboy, too?

The difference is that Anand realizes the difference between fact and opinion.

The reasons for his high opinion of the mac's user interface are facts. OSX gives end user more and easier options for getting around in the os.
Easier, if you define it scientifically as in net-feature-per-finger-per-keystroke, Windows wins hands-down. But easier is generally a QUALITATIVE measurement, and totally opinion-based. "More" options - no. It doesn't. They both give you 3. GUI, GUI + Keystrokes, Command Line.

Have you used expose? Have you used it with 8 different programs running in 20 different windows and compared it to using windows xp with the same number of programs/windows running?

How's about you tell me WHAT THE FVCK IT IS, since a few posts back I admitted to not knowing.
Basically it's window tile like they had in Windows 3.1, you know, where if you have 20 windows open, it shrinks them into a smaller size so they all are maximized filling up the whole screen? What happened to that feature anyways?

Well, congrats, man. You're officially the first person I've ever heard say that Windows 3.1 and <OS9 are way better than OSX. Either you're a) just so much more enlightened than the rest of the world, or b) you don't have a fvcking clue what you're talking about, be it an opinion or not.

I'm a PC & Mac user, so I'm obviously a moron, so I won't try to figure out which one of the above is truely you...too complicated for mindless fanboys like me.

I'm going to go with a), I agree, I'd choose windows 3.1/OS9 over OSX anyday, considering that I hate apple, OS9/8 are the lesser of the two evils.

The batteries issue was the fault of sony and affected several manufacturers.

And OS X is essentially a jazzed up "version" of FreeBSD (with some changes/additions) and had been in development, for the most part, since Jobs returned to Apple as CEO.

Link.

And I never sugested any of that crap. I was only setting the release date straight.

I'm really tired of these posts whining about Mac or Apple.

I own a pc and work on a mac at work (we have to, it's a publishing company).
They all do the same task - they're both tools... one tool is better for one purpose (mac for graphic design/publishing/media) and one tool is better of another (gaming, servers i'm guessing, bang for buck). PCs are 'cheaper,' yes, but it's not a radical amount anymore.. they're no longer the audis of home computers, they're more the VWs... $599 for a dual core mini is not horrible.. $999 for a dual core laptop is not something to whine about.. right now i'm typing this on a $899 athlon64 laptop that works fine... Just use what you want to use and shut up already....

And, sure, i find the ads cute but a little smug - but they seem to be working as apple has been setting records fiscal year after fiscal year.. hate the ad? change the channel..

The ads are too smug for me.

I recently sold my last Mac, a dual G4 Power Mac. I'm not sure if I am going to buy another one or not.

Apple releases updates in drips and drabs, and they decide what the consumer wants, instead of listening to consumer input. Hey Apple, how about making an affordable PC (sub $900) with expansion slots, room for more hard disks, and an upgradeable GPU?

Why? Most people, not us of course - this is a tech forum... As I was saying.. most people use computers like appliances.. They use a computer to check email. They use a computer to capture and print their digital pictures... They use their computers for specific tasks and do not care about processing power, GPUs, etc. etc. etc. So, for them, the $599 dual core macmini is perfect.... a $999 mac would be great, but does joe blow really upgrade his computer other than throwing in the occassional extra stick of ram? Ask Mr. K-Mart who Nvidia is and he'll probably scratch his head..

Yup. People here know this.. that's why it pisses PC users off. If no one thought it works, they wouldn't care.
That said.. macs suck :D

don't quite see how this is desperate. lots of people have pets, or kids, that get anywhere and everywhere. or they just are in company of clumsy people.

not to say I like the apple ads, some of them are just ignorant.

Am I the only one who thinks the magnetic connector is retarded. Has nobody had to take their laptop into a lab/workshop with stray metal filings, loose electronic components like resistors and capacitors just wating to be attracted to the magnet and causing possible havoc. Also what if the cord is under a little tension leaving a tiny gap in the connection. wont this cause arcing

The people who would encounter issues such as those you listed wouldn't be stupid enough to purchase an apple computer in the first place. ;) In the end, it all works out...

That one just went overboard.
You've never been to college's cafeteria or library, have you...multiple power cords in the way is the norm. The commercial itself, which I haven't seen, is probably retarded, though.

I'm not going to touch the OS X v. Win part, here...
