HP all the way, at least for the ~$400 laser printer segment.
I've worked as a system builder and a sys-admin for a good number of years now, and I've had way too many problems with Lexmark, Canon, Brother, and a bunch of other brands...
For the expensive goodies I'd run with Lexmark and Tektronix (Xerox now) printers. Those Teks are niiiiiiice...
