Would you want to have a superpower even if you couldn't use it?

Imagine if you will you could have a superpower, but for whatever reason the superpower you are granted is essentially useless to you.

For example: Micah from Heroes. He's got the ability to "talk to electronics". But say if you will Micah was unfortunate enough to live in the middle of the savanna in Africa where "High Tech" is probably a spear with a metal tip.

Or another example: Superman. But instead of landing on Earth, say he landed in a solar system with a red star as its sun.

Would you still want to have the superpower just to have it, in the event that it may somehow be useful at some point in time? Or would it irritate you to no end that it was useless to you?

But arguably a CW is far more useful in a multitude of situations than a power that is either suppressed or outright useless.

It's useful in certain situations, as the superpower would be useful in certain situations. Just the CW is more likely to get used, but then again how many people walk around with CW's and never use/pull them? I'm sure there are plenty.

But that's the point - if you KNEW you have powers under a certain context, but you're not within the confines of that context. The only saving grace is possibly the hope that one day you'd be in the context to use those powers, but that's nothing more than a hope.
