accroding to the New Testament except for unfaithfulness, that divorce is not allowed. And that if that man then goes on to marry again he is committing adultery, and thus voilating not only Jesus' word, but the 1 of the 10 commandments.

Divorce is awful on society as a whole , right ? It leaves broken families, and is certainly a casue for great instability.

It is banned by the NT so I imagine for many of you that would be enough, right ?

So tell me, if their was a vote to Ban Divorce , would you vote for it ?

If we live in a society ruled by the Bible, I would vote to ban Divorce because that is how it is stated in Bible.

Luckily we don't.
 
I see what you are saying. Those who condemn gay marriage but not divorce using religion ( especially the Bible ) are hypocrites. Using the Bible one could easily say that divorce destroys the sanctity of marriage just like gay marriage. The Bible does not condone divorce and in fact forbids it. It "Till Death Do You Part" all the way to the bitter end.

PSA: In the Bible (Torah) it is completely acceptible to get a divorce (Get) . Sorry for the mistake.

If we live in a society ruled by the Bible, I would vote to ban George W. Bush because the bible says, "Thou shalt not bear false witness." :|
 
The bible should not be interpreted as a literal law.

At best it should be guidelines for those that need it as a crutch.

Look what the redical Muslims are doing with the Koran.

Much that is written in the bible is based on what people wanted to believe.
 
Why don't we ban sex altogether? That would solve most of our problems. No more teen pregnancy, abortion, marriage of any type, or divorce. The murder rate would go way down... or would it go up?

I understand your point and wish to add to it, all the women I know to have had abortions, 3 of the 4 are republicans.

same with abortion, and in some cases gays (not a ban on gay marrage, but participating in sex with the opposite sex) (all the gay people on my moms side of the family are republican and bush supporters (2 that i know of), i know WTF)
