ummm, and if you read your own link he did take credit for creating the internet. Just later backtracked to say "no, no, that's not what I meant"

happens all the time when a politician opens their mouth. But in Gore's case he bit off way more than he could chew.

Taking initiative in creating and "inventing" are two different things and you really do know that. Funding mean anything? Bill promoting the creating mean anything? Just partisan politics trying to make it look one side, IMO. Happens on both sides and it's happening here. Gore would have been 100 times the President stupid @ss has turned out to be.

I didnt respond b/c youve got to cut the Gore apologists a little slack. Its AL GORE! Who cares?

As far as snopes is concerned, they are not always the be all and end all regarding every item listed at their site.

Im skeptical of their site to tell you the truth. But what are you going to do?

And before someone jumps the gun, if you defend Gore you are not by default an apologist however your definately on the way to being one. :p

See above. Gore is 100 times the man that the chimp is. Kerry isn't much better than Bush but he is a better choice. Almost anybody on either side would have been.

I've been saving this one for a while, so bear with me....

"this coming from somebody who just paid off his house thanks in a major part to the republicans that have been pushing the economy forward to record levels while lowering taxes."

I know, it sounds outrageous. But truth kind rocks.

Love ya engineer, but we are not going to agree on politics. But if you are ever in the neighborhood I'd love to have a beer with you and maybe then we can step outside with pistols at ten paces to settle our feud.

And I'll respond to this that my company shut down two of it's three tooling plants (shipping one to Mexico) and shifted the remaining work to my plant giving me more overtime than I would ever want or need. The real truth. I've gotten a 3% raise for the last two years (one raise in two years as wages were frozen). The real truth is my company shipped them out (as many have done) and we got the leftovers. Tax cuts didn't do it for me, overwork because of too deep of cuts did it.

Sure, I received a few thousand in extra cuts over that time but I'll dare you to say that it paid off $75,000 in two years from tax cuts.

Oh, and somebody posted an article on here some time ago showing the effects on the economy after both tax cuts and raises. Guess what, the economy moved forward in either situation. The US economy is going to move forward regardless. If you guys thinkg that the US CEO's are sitting around saying ...well, we aren't going to do anything this year because we didn't get a tax cut...are just fooling yourselves.

Let's not forget the the increases in everything because of the increase in oil prices (it affects the cost of everything), as well as the fact that wages haven't kept up with inflation/growth. Yeah, brilliant economic plan.

Everyone conservative is gonna hit vote yes, everyone liberal is gonna vote no. Whats the point of this thread?

I voted for him in 2004 and I would not vote for him again. I think I'd vote Libertarian since I was not favorable to Kerry at all either

Judging from the results, not too many were Fonda Kerry, either. :)

If Hilary or Kerry or Edwards is the best they can do, we are screwed.

You forgot the guy who invented the internet - Al Gore.

Myth. Never happened.

And here you go...

Really? From the very article you just posted...

During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet

What exactly does that mean to you? I take it as him saying he created the internet...

I don't venture much in here, but you are in the minority.

The majority of the US want's Bush. This is what we want. We are tired of wusses being our elected officials.

I repeat, this is what we want and our voice has spoken. Like it or not, you are in the minority and represent what is wrong with our country. We are fighting to prevent that from having any say/power in what is best for our country.

We're tired of it. I am tired of it. We need a leader, and we have one thankfully. Not since reagan have we had such a leader.

I remember the very day the planes hit. I immediately said at 9:30 on that very morning "crap, we're going to war. this is how a world war is started. crap. Thank god we have Bush in office and not a wussy."

it amazes me that people in this forum think that 90 percent of americans think like they do (a lot of you don't even seem to be americans, which isn't a big deal, but don't say you will or won't vote for bush, your vote isn't relevant. kind of like kerry saying "some foreign leaders want me to be president"). the truth is that this forum is obviously biased far to the left, just look at the topics posted! its by no means an objective, let alone conservative-friendly atmosphere. most americans believed and still do that he was better than the alternatives. don't be surprised that the anandtech forum is not an accurate gauge of the socio-political climate in america today, particularly southern and middle america.

Spent billions and billions of dollars trying to turn a country that has been killing and blowing everyone up since the dawn of time into a democracy??? HAH. I just want someone who can make decisions. And im tired of this "you have 2 choices, EXTREMELY Liberal or EXTREMELY Conservative thing. How about someone who can balance it to a logical kind of thing?

Thats not necesserily true. People feelings change all the time along with their support of the President. Im sure you voted yes.

It's true, anyone 'conservative' would have realized by now that Bush is not conservative according to any definition of the word.

Yes, either that or you watched good old Rudy's convention speech. Don't worry, he didn't really say it either...but you both sound like incredible tools. Don't feel too bad, I thought the same thing on 9/11. What can I say, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Also, you guys really need to let go of the voice of people crap. Yes, Bush won the election...by the smallest popular vote margin in 30 or so years. He also, as far as I remember, had the closest re-election race of a 2 term president EVER. He, quite frankly, won by the skin of his teeth. Which is fine, he still won, but this "The People Have Spoken" nonsense makes you look kind of stupid. Just some friendly advice.

But you know, it doesn't really bother me...because no matter how much you guys love him, he's gone in a few short years. While I'm sure he will impressivly screw things up between now and then, after 2008, we won't have to deal with him any more. That's the beauty of our system, something our first president saw quite clearly. A little less than half the country doesn't like him, a little more than half does. And in a few years, it doesn't make any difference.

You know how Id vote, but how about you? Why?

You really think so? Even though under his leadership the nation's economy began rapidly moving towards third world status? Even though under his leadership the job market has been awful and has failed to produce high-value-added, knowledge-based jobs?

I voted for Bush in 2000 because I despised Gore and thought Bush would do a better job with the economy. Boy, was I wrong. I had no idea he'd prove to be a traitor.

Bush will go down in history as America's Worst President.

Now this bozo wants to furthe erode the middle class and the lower middle class by allowing illegal alien amnesty! What a retard! Got millions of unemployed and underemployed people in your country? Got environmental issues and resource issues? Got a population explosion? Got health care problems? Solution--let's allow millions of impoverished people from third world countries into the country. I don't get it. I guess it's good for his rich friends at the expense of the lower classes.
