I'm not a "manager" here, but I have 3 off shore people that I'm supposed to manage their workloads and help to keep them occupied and efficient.

But, otherwise, everything on your list is already something I already do, though it would be nice to only be on call 25% of the time....

I would love another 10-20%, but Iam comfortable with what I make now. Where do I sign up?

i just stumbled across this thread. interesting to see what i was thinking back then, and what people were telling me.

the poll was right. it was a bad idea. this last year has pretty much been the worst. the job always feels like more than i can handle, maybe because of the brain surgery. managing 5 peoples work + my own sucks the life out of me. i cant remember things that happened 2 weeks ago, let alone 2 months ago. shoot, some days i cant even remember common words or peoples names. :(

yet i get good reviews from management, so maybe it just feels bad to me. or maybe their standards are just low, lol. still... i would love to get my old job back. but there is no going back, im afraid.

i guess the one positive of this is it has really started me down the path of planning for financial independence and retirement, including a possible early retirement. :awe:

Good man.

If you make more money, SAVE IT!

The biggest problem people have is spending all their disposable income on newer and better toys whenever they get a raise.

I've turned down way higher raises than that... try 50%+. And I thought the job would be awesome, just didn't like the area to live in.

Never. Life is too short to do something you don't like 8 hours a day. Certainly not for a paltry 15% difference in pay.

without a doubt - it blows my mind when couples that i know are making at least 150$k/year, and they complain about how they cannot save any money

o_O

i live on like 25$k per year. in a family of 4, we lived on like 50$k maximum. 100$k on top of that would be pure gravy.
