Absolutely. If he can pull it off as well as Daniel Craig does, I'd be all for it.

The thing is, Craig doesn't pull it off, he's a horrible Bond. Call his character by any other name and the movies would still be decent action flicks but he's horrible as Bond. He's lifeless, fairly expressionless, horrible at the one liners, Bond is a certain way and Craig is the opposite of that way. More realistic blah blah blah, for forty years, Bond was a certain way and they changed it. Even though the Moore movies were barely passable, as the character Bond, he was much better than Craig.

The new movies are pretty good, they're just not very good Bond movies. Craig is a decent action-dude, but not really a good Bond.

I say go for a fat, american, black woman with a wooden peg for a leg.

Definitely could be good.

Bit of history: The 60's show "I Spy" with Robert Culp and Bill Cosby as two spies was as I understand it the first time for a black start co-starring as an equal.

The network realized it offended a lot of white viewers and wanted to get rid of Cosby but Culp gave them an ultimatam, Cosby stayed or he left. They gave in.

Numerous affiliates in the south refused to air the series. Aren't ya proud of our history?

I loved that show.

I was kind of surprised how they portrayed the local authorities in Mexico as competent and helpful, instead of a bunch of sombrero-wearing buffoons. (Which seemed a lot more common in '60s TV.)

Totally agree with this.

hmm can I stick a business ad in here to take advantage of anticipated views due to the popularity of James Bond like the OP did at first?

Makes no sense to me. It would just come off as some cheezy PC crap.

In addition to the well known background of Bond, which doesn't lend itself to a black character, how the heck is a black Bond going to blend-in in all the social settings one expects to find Bond? A black Bond would be so easy to identify, so difficult to conceal that he'd be dead.

Why not just do a good non-Bond spy movie with a black character? You can make it believable and not have to carry around the Bond baggage. You would be free to create your own back story for him. Harvard/Yale/MIT (instead of Exeter and Cambridge). He could be an ex-SEAL team member, meaning world travel, foreign languages and skills such as demo/sniper/computer hacking etc. Have him operate in North America, SA and the Middle east instead of snobby elite white gatherings in Europe etc.

I'm not sure the Bond franchise is really worth that much any more. It's played out. Time to go a new direction.
