many studies have shown that handsfree or not isn't ther problem, it's the activity of having a phone conversation. Having the phone in your hand or not didn't make much difference IIRC.

I would support such a law. I don't know how many idiots I've been behind, who were either driving all over the road, or slowing things down, while talking or messing with their phone. We recently had a teen girl get killed in a head on collision, while texting and driving!

I love that newest of fads - texting while driving or rather the driver is texting while the car is more or less going wherever the hell it meanders in the meantime.
I do both all the time.Originally posted by: GenHoth

I personally think all cellphone use in a moving vehicle should be against the law. You simply cannot perform the task at hand if you are speaking on the phone, handsfree or not.
If you want an example, try playing your FPS video game when your girl is talking to you.
I've done that before. And I got a great Kill/Death Ratio too
Likewise, then my girlfriend chewed me out for not listening to her

Stupid law!
When they outlaw eating, shaving, smoking and small lap dogs while driving then I'll be on board for cell phone banning.
Stupid nanny state lawmakers think they know best for us!
I agree, one law to rule them all.Originally posted by: crystal
Why only ban cellphones? What about foods & drinks? Brushing teeth, changing clothes and/or put on makeup?

Fuck safety. I'll stick with freedom.

That's odd, I do it all the time. And I've never been in an accident that was my fault.
How about this: Quit trying to take someone else's freedoms away because it makes you feel better.

Wow, that sounds like the exact same thing this guy I once knew used to say about drinking and driving before I had to go ID him down at the morgue. Yeah, he is sure FREE now. Shame that some people feel so entitled these days.

studies have shown that talking on hands-free devices is just as distracting as talking with a normal cellphone next to your ear.
I'd support a ban on all automobile retardation, including talking of a phone, shaving, putting on make-up, etc (anything beyond basic drinking, changing radio stations, etc)

Studies have proven that hands free devices dont make driving while talking any safer. It's the distraction thats the problem, and therefore I dont approve of a law like this.

DO you have sources or links for those studies? I would be interested in reading them.
Thanks.
