Would you spend the night in a haunted house?

There are no such things as ghosts or haunted houses, and any stories of such are entirely the product of imagination, hallucination, fear, wanting to tell a good story, exaggeration, outright lies, power of suggestion, etc.

But even so, I have always found such stories to be fascinating and cool. I wish I had the balls to stay in some old broken down house/mansion in the middle of nowhere which was completely without electricity, covered in dust and cobwebs, and freaky as hell. Unfortunately, in all honesty, I just don't think I could do it. I think I'm too big of a puss. Knowing there are no ghosts or demons doesn't completely eliminate the capacity of such things to scare me. Certainly though, if enough money was offered I would make it happen.

I like how people say, "no, there is no such thing as ghosts." and yet they have no prof. They probably never been on a ghost hunt or even been to a known hunted place.

Again, that's now how proof works.

I've never sliced open your head to dig for a brain, and you haven't proven to me that your skull isn't filled with whipped chocolate pudding, therefore your skull is filled with whipped chocolate pudding because you haven't proven that it isn't.

He's special.

To answer the OP: Hell yes. I get off on this kind of stuff and would love it.

I beg to differ. He's proved that it is indeed filled with chocolate pudding.

Not that I'm aware of. It isn't something I've specifically sought out though. Seems like good places involve trespassing, and if I'm gonna break the law, I want a better pay off than a cheap place to stay for the night. A creepy run down mansion would be great.

Go here. Pretty much guaranteed to experience something you will not be able to explain and wrap your head around.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myrtles_Plantation

When I went I was pushed in the back outside one of the out buildings till reached the parking lot. Even as I picked up speed to running I was still being pushed.

I only went that one time and have not been back since. I haven't been in Louisiana since Hurricane Katrina though. If I ever get back down there I would visit the Plantation again to see if same thing happens or something else.

Another place you should check out is

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crescent_Hotel

This was interesting. When I lived in Oklahoma in 2007 a group of us friends decided to take a trip to Eureka Springs for vacation. We rented a house in town. One late afternoon we we stopped at the Crescent hotel. One of the guys heard it had a Bar/Cafe up on the roof and the Hotel is very high on a hill overlooking the area. Sounded like a nice place.

Had an experience there that none of us can explain. We didn't know anything about the place being haunted.

When we were up on the roof Bar we saw a guy wearing strange clothing (1800's type clothing) and wearing a hat in the Penthouse window one second and then he was gone.

Long story short when we got down to the lobby asked about the Penthouse and the clerk said no one is up there. We described the man and the clerk said "Oh you saw Micheal", he is a resident ghost. He siad he normally roams the 2nd floor and rarely ever seen up there. There is a display and statue about him in the back. We went back there and sure enough it was the guy we saw up there.

Like a Ripley's believe or not but we all saw him.

Anyway I've been fortunate to have many experiences over the years all around the country.

I'll post more when get a chance.

Documented?

It's also possible to document the hallucinations of a mental patient. Someone writing down hallucinations doesn't lend them credibility.

Given the sheer number of people who have died on the planet, you'd think that hauntings would be damn common, especially in places like hospitals or nursing homes.

They are in Hospitals and Nursing homes.

You have been deprived.

How do you explain when a group of people experience the same thing at the same time. You declare they are all nuts and Hallucinating?

I've stayed several nights at three reportedly haunted hotels.

#1 was highly occupied and all I could hear through the night were drunk idiots screaming Creed and Staind at the top of their lungs.

#2 was a quaint small town hotel, spent just one night and nothing happened...the other person with me left ALL the lights on :\

#3 was in a big city, but in a very quiet hotel and street. Heard alot of noises outside that were unusual but not difficult to explain. Heard noises from inside room, likewise. Got kicked on the foot middle of night...was difficult explaining that one but nothing to say it was paranormal.

I'd like to stay in more...I like to explore the unusual 🙂

I like how people ask the same question about spending the night in graveyards. If I were a ghost, I wouldn't be haunting some old house or graveyard. I'd haunt the vegas strip or an exotic beach.

I wouldn't spend the night in a graveyard. God knows what centuries of rotting corpses have done to the soil.

We did a house tour. The whole place felt heavy. The tour takes you down into the basement. As we got downstairs, "it" came around the side of the tour guide and almost knocked her down. It was the height of kid. I then picked up my 4 year old daughter and left while the rest of my family finished the tour.

When they got out, they said they were in the attic when something kept moving around them. My FIL took a photo of a mirror in the attic and caught an image of some chic.

For whatever reason, I just see a white blob/mist when looking at the photo. I took it to work, didn't say why and a friend asked why I had a picture of a ghost. He then showed me the face and hair of the thing.

Check out Molly Brown's house in Denver.

When my wife and I did that tour there was an old dumb waiter system with an intercom type system. It was no longer powered up.

When we were there the bells rang like it was powered up. Could not have been from vibration was too solid.

There was about a dozen folks on the tour at the time. Pretty much freaked everyone out.

Also got to Betsy Ross home in Philadelphia.

When my wife and I were on the tour there is an area downstairs that has a display behind a glass wall. There was no living people in the sealed off area yet we saw two people in period clothing appear then vanish.

Pretty wild stuff.

Again all things multiple people seeing at the same time.

I don't need to explain it, psychology does a fine job. Look up crowd psychology, mass delusions, mob mentality and suggestibility.

A few weak, pathetic people feeding on each others fears and delusions does not demonstrate anything other than the fact that they're weak and pathetic. Toss one skeptic with a brain into the group and that person would be completely immune to all the nasty stuff the ghosts supposedly do. Amazing how that happens, maybe you just need stronger ghosts.

I don't believe in ghosts or spirits, not even a little bit, so I'll spend the night in any building that is physically intact and can be secured. Extra points, of course, if it's a cool old building as well.

I dunno. I have a vivid imagination, so I think I might end up scaring myself out, lol. Also depends on it's reputation. Haunted places where the rumors center around violence done to people who attempt to stay there, I don't think I'd even attempt.

So youre on a tour in a house thats famous for being haunted and relies on people believing its haunted for its continuing relevance, you heard a bell ring and the obvious answer is that its a real ghost with nothing better to do than ring a bell when tourists arrive?

Yeah there's a lot of historical exhibits here that do the people in the mirror thing, its pretty cool. Its a nice way of bringing a building (or other) to life and showing the prior occupants. (They use it to good effect on the Cutty Sark in London for instance)

If a haunted house actually existed, sure, I'd stay in one.

Unfortunately they don't exist.
