I like cloth pads. If they cost $10, I'd pay it. Fortunately they're a couple dollars, or free :^)

The mouse pad would have to be completely awesome for me to pay more than $10 for it. I have one a roommate bought me with a bikini clad chick and her boobs are squishy wrist ergonomical stuff. I'd pay for that one but not much more unless it was totally epic.

Spent $25 for a Razor eXact Mat. It's an aluminum mat with one side smooth and the other with a textured surface.

Hell yes. For a long time I never used a mouse pad (pretty much since I started using optical mice). A couple of Christmases ago my bro bought me a Razer Destructor, and now I will never be without a good mouse pad.

The worst thing about cheap pads is that they're tiny. If I didn't have a large mouse pad, I would rather go without.

That's the one I have. I really like it; way better than the mouse on top of it.

When the Athlon 64 launched they had that 'virtual scratch ticket' campaign. Well, I won a 'competition mousing surface' from FUNC. it was ~$45.00, IIRC.

That was in 2003 and I'm still using it. It's pretty sweet, actually. I'd buy another one of these. Considering all the mouse pads I had before were shit and I'd probably spent close to 45 on multiple ones.

EDIT: this is my mousepad.

Not sure I could allow an object with the words "Cyber Snipa" into my house, but it looks like a decent pad nonetheless ^_^

I just use a plain old cloth one with a wrist pad I got from Target for I think $5. Don't care about "gaming" mouse pads.

no mouse pad. even the large ones are too restricting. I'm a low sens user. I don't know if it works or is needed in vista/w7 but I also use the cpl mouse fix which is supposed to turn off windows mouse acceleration so sometimes I need to make a large swipe if I need to pull a quick 360.

My favorite mousepads are the rubbery-backed cloth ones. I could usually get those for around $3 each at computer shows. They could also be washed with regular laundry detergent after awhile of use.

i wouldn't pay for a small one. i'd pay $10 for one that takes up the rest of my keyboard tray. current mouse pad is old enough to have a driver's license.

I always buy the most expensive mouse pads because I want my little pets to be comfortable during their menstrual cycles.

I bought a funcpad when there was pretty much just one option. I've been using it for 8 years now I think. It set me back around 25 shipped. I would only replace it with a larger similar product.

10 dollars yes?
I think my limit would be 35 bucks.

I would, but only if it was made to last ....

Most expensive one I've had was a Ratpadz, and it survived for around 3 or 4 years ... but the surface got too worn down to have any friction ....

Err... so do you swing your mouse hand about wildly if you play games or something? there's more than a foot of horizontal space on "gamer" mousepads. I barely move my hand more than four inches when I'm doing anything, and that includes snap 180s in CS:S

My mousepad at work is similar to this: http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/ca...affixedcode=WW

I find the gel wrist pad alleviates any soreness on my wrist from contacting the desk. I'm much happier now that I have it, and for me, it's essential since I use this computer for hours every day.

At home I use a simple large $4 cloth mouse pad just so I get better tracking. I don't use my home PC enough to justify needing a gel wrist guard on my pad.

I use more of an arm movement when I play CS:S. It probably takes two full swipes to pull a true 180. When I did play I would turn with the mouse but I'd have to strafe in the opposite direction at the same time. Sensitivity ~ 1.8 maybe? I've gone as low as .95. That's with the cpl mouse fix.

TF2 I used a higher sens. Quake maybe even higher so I can hop.

How come your sense is that low? you have to move a lot more to get an aim on someone.

Haven't used one at home since the introduction of optical mice, no need for it.

I still have some of the legendary "Hugh Jass" mouse pads that sold for 99 cents at RadioShack. The same type pad sells at MicroCenter for $9.99.

You only really need a mousepad if your desks' surface is shitty, reflective, or clear glass.

That being said, in the defense of the expensive mouse pad. I still have a fUnc sUrface1030 that I bought a billion years ago. Even though it was like $30, its just a mousepad, it will last you forever. Unlike other expensive electronics.

...and until they show me some legitimate data that a $100 extreme performance gaming mouse pad will increase my noob-fragging by at least 10%, I won't even click a product link.

In cs:s it's good for long range/mid range. Not as great when you're up close and personal but it works. Just takes practice.

For TF2 I think I use something like sense 5 maybe since accuracy isn't quite as important. I think my zoom_sensitivy setting is either .85 or .65 so it's a little lower than default when I'm sniping since I'm aiming for long range.

I don't remember the exact numbers since it's been a few months since I've actually gamed.
