I think I paid $15 for mine. Wanted to try out a metal pad for the first time. I've used it for three years, definitely got its money's worth in mileage. However, the metal surface wears down over time, and I think it shaves off just a little bit of my teflon feet on my G5 every time I use it. I think my next mousepad will be a cloth pad... we'll see.

EDIT: this is my mousepad. It's weird because I only really use about 1/3 of the mousing space, even though I pretty much play solely FPSes. At first it was really smooth, kinda weird to use since I'd been used to old optical mice. After a while, the rough surface wore down to smooth, and has a bit more traction. You can really tell where I've used it, there's a circular smooth spot on the left 1/3 of the pad.

Hell yes. For a long time I never used a mouse pad (pretty much since I started using optical mice). A couple of Christmases ago my bro bought me a Razer Destructor, and now I will never be without a good mouse pad.

The worst thing about cheap pads is that they're tiny. If I didn't have a large mouse pad, I would rather go without.

I spend 25 euros on my Nova Winner mouse pad. And its one of the best 25 euros spend ever. Dont even want to think about gaming without that mouse pad. Wouldnt even consider leaving for a lanparty without it. I forgot it once and went back to home and made a 2 hour trip just to get it. Yer people looked at me as if i was a dumb fuck but when they tried it out they understood why i went back to get it.

It has a nice soft wrist part and the looks itself are just awsume and the surface is uber for laser mice.

I have a steelseries 9HD that was about $40 bucks. Before that I used an Icemat. Never regretted it once.

umm they have a thing that's been out a while called Air Conditioning.

Under normal air conditions I usually get a tiny bit of sweat under my wrist (where my wrist touches the mousepad). It's just what happens when your hand clenches a mouse for hours at a time... I just lift my hand up for a few seconds, do a quick wipe, and it's evaporated.

that is bad for your wrist; you should use the mouse and keyboard with your wrists hovering above either device.

I guess I'm not opposed to a decent mousepad but not some $50 "xtreme gamer" shit.

Currently I have the $3 cloth one from Walmart. It's actually my second; the previous one just got worn out after a couple years. Before that I had a cheap plastic one from Walmart which was nice except after a year or two would not stay flat.

No matter what desk I've had, with a optical or laser mouse I always prefer a pad. It never tracked near as well without.

I still use my Duke Nukem 3D mouse pad. This thing will go to the grave with me.

It depends on what kind of pad. I would be willing to spend some on a high quality pad that doesn't collect dust or degrade, but cheap ones I don't even use, I just use the table (pic in one of the other threads :p)

I use the $3 Walmart mousepads. I've always hated the hard surface ones, and it seems like a waste to spend a lot on a cloth one.

I got a mouse pad when I had rogers install internet and cable 2 years ago and I still use it. I only use a space about 4"x6" so I don't need anything very big. The only thing I don't like about it is it doesn't stay in place very well and the feet on my mouse get gunked up and drag it around sometimes.

I've only bought one mouse pad. Every other one has come free with buying something else (usually a mouse, go figure).

I paid $35 for my Icemat (which is glass) back in 2003 or 2004, and I've used it daily ever since. Best mouse pad I've ever used.

Heh. I have one of them too :)

Oddly, since going to optical mice, I actually prefer the old foam & cloth cheapie mouse pads. The optical mice just slide around better on them.

I've been using my desktop for years and it works perfectly fine. I tried those fancy mouse pads but IMO are a waste of money and just take up a lot of space.
