would you quit your full time job for a temp position with more money?

bigrash

there is a possibility that you might be permenant later.

oh, and the company is very well known. damn I'm tempted to quit!

Update After a lot of changes with the company, i decided to accept the position today. Turns out it's a full time position now since they had to let someone go. But the compensation is slightly less. but I can't wait to start 🙂

Update 2 Well, it gets even more confusing. After giving my notice yesterday, my boss was really upset (although happy for me). She told her boss, and he told her to counter the offer that I received. They basically offered me the same pay and asked me to think about it. I thought about it for a day and decided to still leave because I'm still young and I can afford the change right now.

Do you have dependents? Depending on your life situation, a stable job with good benefits may be better.

no. i used to be a temp in a large financial corporation before. being a temp is worse than being a consultant

Depends on:

Your family situation... Got kids?
Money.... How much more?
Length of the contract.

Also, assuming that you'll be working in a team, how many of your peers will be full-time employees? How long have they(and the temps) been there? You may not want to work as a perma-temp.

What's the difference? Are temps W2?

temps are given the tedious, menial jobs. they are let go at anytime without warning or reason (didnt happen to me, but ive seen others get fired for no reason). although my temping position got me a full time position, i wouldnt be a temp again.

Altough the position is temporary, I wont be doing temp stuff like filing. It's basically doing the same thing that I do now, but the position is not permanent.

I don't have to support family right now, which is why I can afford to take this chance.

Depends on all sorts of stuff.

The type of work you're doing
Benefits with either place
The past history of either place
Work environment
Money
Relationship/Family situation

How long is the temp position? How much do you like your current job? Is there room for advancement, or is it a dead end? How much more is the temp job paying, 5%, 10% more?

job description says 3 to 6 months. I like my current job and theres some room for advancement, but it doesn't pay much. temp job is paying 25% more.

LOL, I just did the exact same thing. But the contract at the place I'm going to is through the end of the year.

In your case with no family and such I would do it. Just extra exp. on the resume and now you can tell anybody else "At my last job I made..." and might at least make the same or more later if it does not turn full-time later.
