Would you pay for pizza if the pizza industry charged for delivery?

I would but depending how much...

Pizza is suppose to be cheap. If delivery charge costs a lot then it would make a difference on how I make the decision.

Of course! Delivery charge means they're getting money for delivering, therefore I'll pay the $1.50 for whatever charge they impose me. Won't cost my wallet a penny extra, because I'll simply take $1.50 from what would be pizzaboy's tip.

I'm the same way -- I usually tip well (since I live on the third floor, with no elevator). When I have to pay a delivery fee, that comes right out of the tip.

A friend of mine is even more rude about it; if it's a place with a delivery fee, she won't tip at all. I feel bad for the delivery guy who's standing there, and she's saying "Here's a tip: don't charge people a delivery fee". Well, not too bad 🙂

I wonder what interesting "ingredients" are added to her food? :Q

I just saw on the news that Domino's is adding a $1 delivery charge starting next week (KTLA news just 5-10 minutes ago)

Around here (Grove City, OH) Pizza Hut used to deliver for a fee with a min order.... now Pappa John's adds an extra "delivery fee" of 1.75 for a house which is "far" but still in their delivery area. I think it's a bunch of crap because they pool their trips anyways and it's less than 2 miles from the shop.

Probably been a few years since I've ordered / eaten a chain's pizza. One of the last times was when I ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut and noticed that they were then adding a delivery charge of ~$1.00. I support the local mom & pop place because it's better. And I pick it up because it's close and I'm too cheap to pay someone 20+% to deliver it.

mmmmm...papa john's pizza. My last gf got me hooked on papa john's.

-=bmacd=-

You should smack her, that stuff will kill you! Kill you dead I say!
Imo's is the schiznit!
And for the record, we already pay delivery charges out here too....so it's kinda moot 🙂

yea, there's this place down the street from my friend's house in San Dimas, CA (Tony's, on Via Verde btwn the 10 and the 210 near Vons) which is a mom & pop place... tastes much better 🙂 chains suck compared to them 😉

I'd pay if i got delivery, but the best pizza in the world (one of the best places at least) Lou Malnatis is a quick drive for me so i always Carry out.

I wouldn't. Pizza is expensive as it is. Papa Johns already has killer deals for carry out anyways, 2 large pizzas for $10😀

Hard to beat that. Plus, no tip to pay either. I am a college student, my time is not worth as much as a delivery charge :Q🙁

being a college student is the crapiest excuse to be cheap

really? i tend to think its a great excuse! i dunno how other college students live, but my friends and i are poooor!

Well? They are thinking about doing it. I don't order delivery anyways. I order take out.

who is thinking about it? "they" is a broad range of pizza places.... did some big company come out and say they were going to? or your little local pizza place?

the place i usually buy pizza, there are better deals if you do pick-up, but then there is still the "free" delivery if you want.

here is NYC, this $1 fee has been active since early this yr 🙁

I usually get take out, but if it's only a dollar... I probably would pay for it if I'm feeling lazy. The wasted gas gettin there would probably amount to a dollar.

Of course it is. Think about it. Dough is like <25 cents, and your toppings range from 25-50 cents. Cooking it doesn't cost that much, and you're left with a high profit margin. i mean, how much pepperoni can you put on a pizza? Sell that for 10 bucks, and you're making a killing.

Your food cost claims are a little bit low.

At any rate... Of course, rent, utilities, insurance, payroll, taxes, business loans and other overhead costs are free, right?

A man with a single Dominos franchise is not a rich man, I promise you.
