You could say that about ANYTHING you spend money on. You could have bought a $23,000 car instead of a $28,000 car and gave the $5,000 to charity. Bla bla bla.
If it's your money, and you can afford it financially and you feel that it's the right thing to do, then by all means go for the surgery.
