You could say that about ANYTHING you spend money on. You could have bought a $23,000 car instead of a $28,000 car and gave the $5,000 to charity. Bla bla bla.

If it's your money, and you can afford it financially and you feel that it's the right thing to do, then by all means go for the surgery.

Same here. If selling everything I owned was my only means of getting the $5K, then so be it. I get far more happiness and enjoyment from my dogs than I do any material goods.

In the past 3 years we've dropped down atleast 7500 on my dog.

Parvo Virus, plasma transfusion, medicines etc.

Intestinal Sugery, parts of bone got into her.

Most recently she got hit by a car, two broken legs.

My dad sure wishes he got insurance now! 😛

If i was really really rich sure i would. if 5k was nothing to me then sure. But if $5k is hard to come by then now.

also if it was a gurentee that they would be fine. if it was just to give them another year of suffering life then HELL NO. no matter how much money i had i wouldnt do it.

5k right now for a non-guaranteed surgery on a dog in her last years is probably too much.

I've already paid 3k for 2 ACL surgeries. Since I had the money at the time it was a no brainer. That was 7 years ago and she's still doing awesome.
