How can you fault people for their response to a contrived danger? No matter what they tried to make it look like there was no real danger. Add in that most kids can't act worth crap & who's to say if any of us would have done anything.

I don't think her screaming was realistic at all. It seemed VERY fake to me. Then again, I know it's fake...

nobody wants to be the standout, but everyone will go to the same extreme, no matter how extreme or brutal, once everyone starts doing it together. frightening how we are, but that shows our pack-hunting instincts. its in our nature to act and move in groups, thus why people dont want to attack that guy when they are alone, but you get some people moving in (the ones who are more inclined to act on their own), the rest will quickly follow.
when i have kids, if they are ever out of my sight I'd pray that my kid would know what to do and people would step in. Even though I am not a bulked up guy, I'd probably be like those two guys. Except if someone else was around me I'd try and get them to move on the person with me.

It changes everything. What if the supposedly insensitive people called the police off-camera? Or their act of calling the police was editted out? Did they film 100 takes of this to show only the 10 times that people walked away and not the 90 times that people ran to help?
What I find amazing is that people are so unobjective in believing what they are told to believe and what they want to believe that they don't even stop to question this... now THAT is brainwashing.

The power of the media is an amazing thing in this country. As just a tip-of-the-iceberg example, we have people who earnestly believe that this country has a meth problem who have never seen meth or a meth addict in their whole lives. Their reality is whatever they are told it should be.
The reason for this is that people have a strong desire for pariahs. A strong desire to believe that their perception of everything that they believe to be wrong with the world is not their fault, but someone else's. Especially a group that they can point to and then punish. The "product" (if you will) that the media sells are those scapegoats.

She doesn't speak very clearly. The way she was screaming it sounded like she was being a brat throwing a tantrum. If I was walking by I don't think I would have heard "help, you're not my dad" but just the yelling. However, if when I walked by she said "help me he's not my dad i'm being kidnapped" directly to me then I'd be like wtf and stop.
