Would You Ever Do This?

Would you ever say to a female co-worker, "You look nice today."?

Or would you be so afraid of sexual harassment laws that you would be too scared to say that?

depends how well you know each other? and i wouldn't put it that way, i would say something more specific like thats a nice shirt. "You look nice today" seems creepy

However I must add, that I said that once and the co-worker replied "Are you implying I don't normally look nice"

-_-

No, I don't think that I've ever initiated conversation with a female peer before, let alone do something like that. Actually, there was this one time where we had a lab report due on Wednesday and the next day was Thursday so the professor was out of town and none of my labmates were around so I was getting nervous as to how to turn it in and I had no idea where the TA was but then I saw a female in the lab walking down the hallway away from me so I shouted out her name and asked her. But srsly, much more than that and you look like a creeper.

I share small office with a woman... It doesn't matter what I say or do, If she so chose, she could ruin me any time she wanted: such is the power of women in the work-place.

I try to say only nice things; but I fail often and with vigor.

You should try being disabled, thus regaining the social status balance.

It's all about your persona and delivery.

If you are generally a friendly guy and say it with a smile, no problems.

If you are a creepy engineer that don't talk much then suddenly blurt that out with a crazy face, then yea you have a problem.

It so annoys me how easily a woman can destroy a man's professional life. If a woman ever accuses a man of anything, it is immediately assumed that the woman is telling the truth and that she is the victim.

or a creepy project manager, i know several of those

If you ever try complimenting a woman for any reason she will immediately act like it is creepy and use it against you. Only a woman would be offended by a compliment.

The best option is to just sleep with all your female co-workers after getting them to sign a form that says your in a relationship... no other choice...

SonicIce and Zeze sum it up best; it depends on your relationship with the person and your delivery.

Women, being the creatures they are, are just as likely to take that compliment as "You mean I look like shit the rest of the time?" If someone were to file on me for such a comment, they'd have a woeful time ahead.
