Would you consider using birth control "abortion"?

It prevents an egg from being released an fertilized...so no

Actually, IIRC, if taken in larger doses "the morning after", it can cause a fertilized egg to not develop any further...

I'm not sure of the specific mechanism though..

Yes

Me too, I also consider abstinence a form of birth control. Therefore, every day I don't have sex, I'm having an abortion. And I'm male, too... strange, isn't it?

well if you use the root word abort which i can gather means "quit" or "cease" then well you really havent got anything started to quit or cease so you are not aborting anything

that's what I've been told regarding the morning after pill aka "Plan B" (so-called by one drug company currently producing it....I dont know why I find that funny but I do 😉 ), not sure how it all works though. However as far as I know, your basic oral contraceptive (or even the Patch, or the O ring, all basically work the same way I think) is not considered a method of abortion, because pregnancy tests generally only work after the fertilized egg has attached to the uterine wall (about a week after fertilization, give or take a few days). We really have no way of knowing if little Timmy was smacked down by the Pill or not--from what I've read, a woman wouldn't even know she's "almost pregnant" before the fertilized egg was blasted into oblivion. The only "abortion" the pill would perform is in preventing said egg from attaching to the uterine wall. Just depends on where you believe life begins.

Edit: that is assuming the Pill didn't prevent the egg from being released in the first place, which it usually does.

disclaimer: i could have my facts mixed up but I think this is how it works...been awhile since I've read up on my reproductive systems.

That's my understanding too. I guess if you are the type that believes life begins at the moment of conception, then birth control used in this manner could be considered abortion. Otherwise, I think birth control could not be construed as abortion.

How is birth control a form of abortion?

It amounts to the same thing.

Right:roll:

Glad you agree

Is practicing abstinence and allowing the egg to "die" and get discharged abortion?

It is, after all, "a potential human life"...

All these menstruating women are committing murder! They are sinners! AAAAAGH!
