this has come up before and will likely turn into a massive flamefest about religion, abortion, and parenting.

We circumsized our 3yr old so that he will look like dad. That was our only reason. I don't think its a big deal either way, but there are plenty of people out there that do.

You manchild?
What is that?

Normally I would refer to manhood or child (2 different things).
Manchild confuses me.

I don't really have much of an opinion on this -- I'm circumsized and I understand that there's... maintenance involved when you're not, so it's possible that it's more convenient, but beyond that, I dunno.

The only other reason that I can think of doing it would be that for some women, it's shocking to see one that hasn't been, heh.

Agreed, I don't think it's a big deal either, in the end and it's certainly a personal\family decision.

no. I think circumsized penises are pretty ugly.

plus, if he wanted to be circumsized, it's a procedure that he can have done later in life. the reverse isn't as easy.

My fiance and I aren't planning on it. However, it never ceases to amaze and apall me that there are such ignorant people out there (especially women) when it comes to circumcision. I've heard women talking about how an uncircumcised penis is "just f'in disgusting".

according to those that have had the surgery later in life, it hurts like hell to do and the stitches suck and if you ever became... um.. erect with the stitches on the pain is insane.

I know a guy who has scars over 1/2 of his body from where he was burned in a fire. He plans on throwing any sons of his into a fire for a few seconds so that they look like him.

Why the FVCK does it matter if he looks like his dad or not? Of all the people I've known in my life, I've never once met a father and son who'll whip out thier dicks and marvel at the similarity of them.

You never crossed streams before? Also, I was swimming competitively at age 6.

Seriously?

I think in this case, it might be so that if the kid is showering with his dad, he wouldn't wonder why his thing is different -- although there are many other things that would remain different other than a foreskin, heh.

My fiance is uncut and I think he's perfect. :lips:

And no, we aren't planning on circumcising our son. (if we have one... his name will be James :) )

Three reasons I'd do it:

1- It's the norm in America
2- Doesn't need the cleaning attention that little kids would lack
3- Many women think it's really nasty to be uncut (really stupid)

Only bad thing I've heard is that it causes loss of sensation, but I have no experience with this and my sensation is just fine.

Why the heck would you let the wife decide an issue like that? She, just by basic biology, is not nearly as qualified as you to make that kind of a decision. When your daughter first got her period, and needed pads/tampons would it make sense for your wife to say, "I'll let my husband decide"?

The sensation argument is kind of compelling, but who knows if there's a difference? Besides, if the kid is fapping daily anyway, he'll get a little desensitized anyway.

And maybe it would help with the heartbreak of things happening prematurely. ;)

I have a friend that was uncut and converted to Judaism when he married (Jewish wife, obviously) and he reports the same. He said that he has lost sensation post-circumcision. I'm not a doctor or anything but it seems to me that if the nerve endings are getting rubbed all the time on your underwear instead of being covered by the foreskin then that must make a difference.

The argument is typically that being circumsized causes the loss in sensation for that reason, not vice versa.
