Would you buy a house on this street for $75k?

  • Yes.

  • No.

  • Maybe.

looks pretty damn upscale. if the house was 75k and there are absolutely no problems and no catches, then why not?

I'd be looking for something outside of a crammed neighborhood though. I want to own a good piece of land.

how's the school district? what's the employment demographic?

what's the catch?

Exactly. Clearly nobody wants to live there, or at least nobody that can afford better, if places that size are going for $75k. Either there are no jobs, shit schools, absolutely nothing to do anywhere nearby, or most likely all of them.

A house that looked like that for 75k...

I'd ask what is wrong with it? lien on the title, former tenant was a mass murderer that wears a ski mask and recently escaped from his mental hospital, it's haunted Amityville style...etc

You've got me confused. I searched the whole US on Zillow for:
$69-71k
4+ bed
3+ bath
3000-3200 sq ft
No foreclosures

The house in this thread doesn't turn up...but your screenshot looks like it's from Zillow.

Images are from Google maps & Realtor.Com. Zillow can be pretty damn inaccurate, BTW, I typically only use it to find what homes have sold for, not current values.

I maybe would if there's no major catch as that is a cheap price, but I'd need to know more info first, and of course actually go see the house, then get it inspected if I decide to buy (before I actually sign off).

TTIW w/o more info obviously. And OP's response to multiple users pointing that out was "that's the point of the thread."

...???

will you answer the question?

what's the catch of this house? what's the point you're trying to make?

I think the catch, as numerous people have figured out on their own and pointed out is that it's obviously not a desirable place to live overall for some reason, if it were, would the house be the price that it is? Again, I don't think that requires much explaining.

well, you made it sound like some kind of guessing game or something. you should have just started off saying "there's no real point other than to show you guys how a nice area in a shitty county/school district/etc can bring down the value of a sweet-looking house"

That was basically the point of the thread, which I have said a couple times now. It's a hypothetical based on a small amount of information, mostly the photos of the street and homes.

I vote on every thread, that doesn't prove anything at all except that I don't take this forum seriously or the votes I make in threads.

The point is obviously you just trying to piss everyone off.

I can't do all your thinking for you, Daffy.

OK, so for you, you just voted to vote. I can accept that. Like you said it's just an Internet forum. Lighten up, Francis. I wouldn't go getting pissed off over a silly Internet post. :awe:
