No. The only GM I've ever been interested in was the Saturn Vue. My wife and I looked into one about 6 or 7 months ago. It was smaller than a Hyundai Santa Fe throughout. It had less than half the warranty (3 year versus 10 year), had no decent options availible, and even cost more "loaded" with an GM employee discount (my grandfather worked for GM) than the 4WD Santa Fe LX.

The only thing in its favor was the fuel economy which was about 5 - 6mpg better than the Santa Fe. The interior was absolute crap and not very comfortable. My elbow got hit by the door when the sales guy shut it after I got in, because it wasn't in my lap. And the sales guy was a complete ass who kept saying that Hyundai's warranty is full of lies and deceit and they they wouldn't cover anything if it broke, while Saturns would. :disgust:

Would you buy a new GM? If so, what model?

Sure. I currently have a Saturn Ion Redline... fun car. If I had to do over, I'd get the car I have or a Chevy Cobalt SS. GM has a lot of good vehicles. It isn't 1981 anymore.

my parents got their 99 chevy malibu for 8 grand off (rebates + GM card rebates, unhappy salesman to say the least but he had to accept it). they got their chevy silverado last year for half off because of rebates + GM card rebates. both cars way under invoice.

was it worth it? i dunno, that malibu has a problem every other week. the silverado is too new to experience any problems yet. the malibu has had issues since day one, with the rattle that showed up that just won't go away, no matter what, and even stupid little things, like the glove compartment doesn't line up correctly when it's closed. the A/C was never cold enough, and other random little things. and it wasn't a cheap one, it's the LS.

Depends on what model you're looking at. If it can be any GM car, get a Vette. :p

I drive a buick and would probably buy another one. It's roomy, comfy, etc... Nice ride and decent gas milage.

There are a few GM cars I would consider, although it is mostly for their sports cars.

And is the 2500 in addition to all of the other rebates and such they give?

GM generally has more rebates than people have fingers, it's a valid question.

2500 off in addition to any public rebates.

Then yeah, there are a handful of GM cars I'd go for, but it's pretty limited.

Yes you would. You could probably resell it for a small profit. Unless it was a deal offered to many people.

Too much hassle for a "small profit". I can make more money taking that money to my investment advisor.

I've had nothing but troubles with GM vehicles, I will never spend another dollar on them.

BTW - I love my Buick Regal - but I've yet to find another Buick that I like as much. :(

I'll probably get a Pontiac Grand Prix as my next vehicle, unless I get another (used, newer than my current one) Buick Regal.

Of course he didn't listen and bought a Pontiac Grand Prix.

Surprisingly (to me) it has been an outstanding car.

Why does it surprise you? It's apparently a very reliable car. Article
