I would, definitely. If those have enough torque to get me up to the slopes in the winter, that's all I really need ;)

Some sportier hybrids would also be nice, and I'm sure those are on the way....

Sure, I'll probably wait until someone comes out with a decent all-electric though. I won't need a new car anytime soon anyway.

They are still pretty expensive, and the gas mileage doesn't make up for it. I am rooting for them though, so cheers to those that buy them so the price comes down :)

not a small car, the benifit isn't that much more. from what i've heard it only adds a few mpg ontop of an already impressive number.

however, the ford escape is a different story (i'm actually working on it). it should have about 40 mpg city and have the power of the v6 version out of a 4 cyl.

My sister bought a Toyota Prius recently. I got to drive it quite a bit. This is a fantastic small car...I recommend anyone considering a hybrid to test-drive one. It's about two months old, broken in ok, getting 48mpg in town.

what I wonder is why the manufactuers feel they have to make the cars look so diffrent from everything else. On the road for example, I can point out hybrids just by how they look. While some greenpeacers might appreciate this. Others might no. Yeah its new tech, but wrap old styling around it and Im sure it'll go mainstream quicker.

Yes..a SUV type. I hear the Dodge Durango will be offered in Hybrid format. And the all electric car is a enviromental fraud when you concider all the losses involved in charging/discharging batteries and power line losses in the transmission of power to the charger. And the extra gas and coal or nuke power that has to be burned to overcome the losses in charging batteries. And the eviro hazzard and disposal problem of the battery set when it's usefull life has passed. And the huge hazzard of driving around with thousands of pounds of chemical batteries that could get damaged in a collision...go hybrid till a safe hydrogen alternative shows up.

I guess you haven't noticed the Civic Hybrid. Maybe because it looks like a regular civic..................

(Current cost of gas)((Miles Driven per year*#of years expected to drive car)/(Avg Miles/Gal))

this give you about how much money you use on gas

then...
Car cost-equation above= if the number is negitive you gained money in the long run!!!

if by hybrid you include Diesel-Electric then yes I'd buy one ;)

D/E is not exactly your hybrid civic.

The most common D/E is the diesel locomotive ( http://www.howstuffworks.com/diesel-locomotive.htm )

They are also used in some super heavy duty construction vehicles.

But I don't think it'll be coming to a road car anytime soon hehehe
