Would you be upset if your wife wanted to sell her wedding ring?

Just curious what people think. If your wife wanted to sell it, what would you think? Again, no marital problems, just hates the diamond industry.

I'd tell her to stop being a silly, trendy activist and grow up. She already has the ring, selling it won't make a difference. I could understand not wanting to buy more, but selling it is pointless.

I'd never buy a diamond ring in the first place -- my boyfriend and I have agreed we'll get each other "wedding cheeseburgers" or something like that when the time comes. So given your hypothetical, no, I wouldn't mind at all.

If she sells the ring, make her get a big tattoo that says "Property of (insert your name here)"

Yeah, she's got some little something that she got from silverjewelrystore.com, or some place like that. Only a $5 piece of junk, but she's happy with it. lol, can't help but wish she'd have said that 7 1/2 years ago.

I'm pretty much ok with it. Just curious what other people think. I know many men take a lot of pride in their wife walking around with a big ole rock on her finger, but it's just never really done anything for me. Not that her rock was all that large anyway.

She was aware of that stuff before the movie, but I think it sparked her interest to do some more research in the area. So I guess yes, but not directly.

That's my wife though, and part of the reason I love her.

Of course, it's also the reason we use cloth-diapers, and I'm not a big of a fan of that. Though it is nice to not have to spend the money on disposables.

as long as that ring is converted into a brand new 65" flat screen dlp tv then there is no problem with her selling it.

I actually have the same hatred towards the diamond industry, so odds are I'd not buy a diamond in the first place. Also wedding rings are usually just gold, white gold, or platinum bands, do you mean engagement ring?

That was almost 8 years ago when we bought it. She's had time to think since then.

Thus the origin of the term "smelly hippies" :p

Ask her how much you're saving on cloth diapers when the water bill comes.

No, it's a wedding ring. The engagement ring wasn't very large or expensive, $300 I think. I didn't have a lot of money then, and oddly still don't.

~$30 a month, especially for newborns. We calculated it out because I had the exact same question.

Yes, because it's much better to support what amounts to slave labor in developing Asian countries.
