I voted for Juan. I figured with all the people wanting to lend to John, I could probably charge Juan a higher interest rate.
If the amount of Cash Advance joints in my town is any indication, this is probably true.

I'm not happy with illegals at all, but I have to admit its pretty messed up how many people want to take advantage of them with all the Cash Advance, Paycheck Advance, Title Loans and other shit. Its like legalized loan-sharking.
You dont pay, they call immigration.
How is that taking advantage of? Paycheck loans are shady to start with, I am not even sure why they are allowed to exist.
Areas infested with illegals are also infested with loan sharks. In areas without illegals you might have one in a whole town, and they dont do very well.

Again, I hate illegal aliens but I dont think its moral or ethical to fuck them over while they're here.
As for your question, they are legal businesses because loaning is legal. And they are smart enough to only loan to people who will never, ever call the cops on them.
I bet if I walked in and tried to get some business from them they would find an excuse to not help me.

isnt Juan John too? ;)

Yes, and I was aware of that. Doesn't change my choice one bit. One is hispanic John and the other is just John. If they are the same person then I never had a choice to start with, so I might as well disregard that possibility.

Please...
Do you also believe credit card companies should be banned from coming to college campuses and handing students free bagpacks or a McDonald's lunch?

you dont have to qualify it.
thank you for voting however :)!
it amuses me that Ive been branded a racist for making a simple poal by some.
i find it equally amusing that people feel it necessary to justify why they voted the way they did.

It amuses me that you lack a sarcasm meter and/or humor.

I'm not saying YOU'RE a racist, but not allowing a reasonable set of answers lends itself to people not being able to vote. And just because you only made a poll doesn't mean it can't show you are a racist.

You only made a thinly veiled attempt at not writing

Would you rather lend to:
Whites
Hispanics

So now, spaceman, I present the question above to you. It's just a simple poll, and I don't want your explanation. I will actually laugh at your desire to give me one if you do. I just want your answer.

John would get my money, for when I kick his ass for not paying it back, it won't be labeled a hate crime.

What I mean is loan sharks are everywhere, they pray on what is available. Obviously the illegal aliens are easier preys, but that doesn't mean they are being preyed on more. I live in Toronto (2.5M pop) and I see these things all over the place. I don't think the rate/fee they are charging should be legal

I'm less apt to lend money to anyone that is not immediate family. Even a couple of those are questionable.

That said, I've lent my dad thousands of dollars at a time, on more than one occasion. I've helped out close friends in need too. Each time with no strict deadline and under a "repay me when you can" attitude.

If there are two strangers with the names of Juan and John, neither of them get any of my money. (Edit: That's why I didn't vote at all.)

This study shows with identical resumes, people with "black-sounding" names had a 50% less chance of getting a call-back. Text. I would assume that Latino's and other minorities would face the same name discrimination. So while I wouldn't be less apt to lend Juan money than I would John (all things equal), I assume that other people would be.

Neither, who are Juan and John?

I wouldn't lend more than $50 to someone that I KNOW, why would I throw it out based on a name? The fact that they are even asking for money in the first place is shifty.

No. So, what do I vote?

Poll Fail.

It's not that hard to grasp. Would you rather lend your money to a Mexican man or a white guy? I voted John. Only because I had a bad experience with someone named Juan

What if the answer is that the name does not influence me at all? There is no poll selection for that.

MotionMan

Then don't vote. That's like arguing that McDonald's doesn't serve pizza.

Those cash advance places prey on all poor people, not just immigrants.

My decision would depned entirely on the ability of the person to pay the money back, not their name.

I do not get your point. McDonald's does not serve pizza anymore because it did not sell well: McDonald's Pizza.

I can't believe people are voting for the white guy after what happened to the global economy.

I never had McDonald's pizza in the US, but when I went to Europe in 1996 the closest thing I found to NY style pizza was at a McDonald's in Nice. :Q And it wasn't bad.
