Yes, but it would have looked like a BlackBerry:

If the iPhone hadn't gotten so popular, Android devices would have gone head to head with BB's...
Pretty much, although you do see common elements in that old version of Android and what they actually released.

so basically android would've sucked if it weren't for apple.

Considering Blackberry leads the US in marketshare, I don't think emulating them is really that egregious.
No, its not, but marketshare IS indicative of sales, which is kinda the goal of a corporation.
1. I was talking about the product itself when I said "sucked"
2. I don't believe they would've been able to mimic RIM's success because of BB's stronghold in the business world
Whether or not the product "sucks" is a relative term. Would it have "sucked" to you? Probably. That doesn't mean it would have "sucked" to everyone, and if it sold anywhere near what Blackberry did, I highly doubt it would have "sucked" to Google, HTC, Motorola, etc.
what are you, a bb fanboy?
i own and use a storm2 and am not ashamed to say that the OS sucks, the interface sucks, the hardware sorta sucks (mostly surepress), the lack of good apps sucks which is a result of the developers thinking that the whole platform sucks.
if it weren't for their dominance in the business world, they would be completely of the suck.
and if the product sucked, it would not have sold anywhere near what bb's do.
market share is not entirely indicative of quality.
lol that's totally the opposite of what Apple fans say
ha - hardly. I can be objective about a platform without being a fanboy. Just because the GG&P forums are littered with iPhone and Android fanboys doesn't mean some people can't look at things rationally. For example - you had a bad experience with the Storm 2. Therefore, you irrationally think everything about Blackberry "sucks".
You keep mentioning that it sucks despite its dominance of the business world, and that were it not for that dominance, they would "be completely of the suck", whatever that gibberish means. Did it not occur to you that there are aspects of Blackberry that, in fact, do not suck, which leads to said dominance?
Sales don't lie. Geeks might not like Blackberry, internet polls of business users that don't make purchasing decisions for their company might say people are getting rid of them, but as long as they're still demolishing the competition in sales, well, I guess they don't really suck so much after all.
Anyway, you are quite clearly an irrational troll on this subject, and it really has very little to do with the topic at hand, so I'm going to close this conversation. Have a nice day, sport.

Hmm I know I said I was done, but that last comment was so inane, I'd like to leave you with this...
If they sucked so bad, you (and/or your company) would not have kept purchasing them. People keep purchasing them in droves, apparently including yourself, so either they don't suck or they are masters of deception to be fooling people all decade.
One way or another, despite your opinion of the platform, it is #1 in the US by a wide margin, so the platform as a whole, from the company's perspective, clearly does not suck. You cannot argue with this in any sort of intelligent manner, so please do yourself a favor and don't try.
Done for good this time, send me a postcard when you get back to the bridge.
