Would there be any interest in pooling money together for a AT BF2 rank server? :P

it's $256/month for a 32 player server from EA that works with the ranks system.

Would anyone be interested in venturing in on it with me or a few others? or maybe we could get a bunch of ATers together to contribute to a server?

I'd be interested Qosis, but it can't be an "AT" BF2 server 😉

how about $100 a month for a 32 player server and more?

# 32 Man Public Ranked Server
# Voice Server -(optional)
# 20 Man Ventrilo or TS2
# Web Hosting -(optional)
# Basic Clan Web Hosting
# 300 MB Disk Space
# 1,000 MB Transfer
# Unlimited SQL Databases
# Unlimited Email Accounts
# Unlimited Sub Domains
# PHP/CGI/Perl/SSL
# FTP Access
# FrontPage Extensions
# WebMail & cPanel CP

Our clan uses just the 32 server and it has been great. We had to get the server fixed at the beginning (wasn't reporting anyone's stats), but other than that, its fine.

I live in Texas, and I get about 60, most others from the east and west coast get good pings also.

EDIT: IP is 70.86.207.138 if you want to check it out.

$256/mo? You sure that's a real price?

That's what the EA rental site says. I'm not sure if they have some great feature that I don't quite know 😛 but they seem like a ripoff now compared to the other sites.

EA Hosting site.

If there is anyone out there who would like to go in on it 50/50 with me let me know 🙂 Don't want to have too many people contributing because everyone will want admin access then, and I'm sure that'll just be a pain in the servers butt!

I would suggest getting just a 32 player server, 64 player maps are notoriously laggy; also, most people prefer having 32 players (at least, i think).

I was under that impression too. I wonder if I would get it for BF2 or BF2: Special Forces! Hmm!

AT'ers are notoriously cheap, good luck!

thats funny coming from you 😀

I have no problems paying $400+ for quality web hosting. Some AT'ers would choke at the idea of paying $4/mo for hosting.

Now when it comes to computers, electronics, DVDs, shoes and hair products ... the cheaper the better.
