by choosing to disobey societal standards you choose to place yourself above others, which is the definition of selfishness.

Unfortunately, you've not countered, though you have offered support for, the argument that the social standard is contrary to the legal standard in many locations.

You choose to endanger others, which is also selfish as well as stupid.

Again, cases exist in which you are endangering others more by going the posted speed limit than going five over.

Mostly you choose to deny the overwhelming evidence and rational argument against your actions, which is the very definition of ignorance.

The rationality of following the speed does not hold in many contexts.

I almost kicked the shit out of some guy a couple hours ago because of this. I was driving up on a construction zone where the left lane ended up ahead. The line was about 1/10th of a mile long and the left lane was wide open up until the part where you're supposed to merge. Naturally, I did the smart thing and took the left lane up to that point. The guy I was going to merge in front of got super pissed and almost hit me to keep me from getting in front of him, and yelled at me as he drove by. Too bad for him traffic came to a dead stop about 100 feet later. I walked up to his car, had him roll his window down, and explained to him all about the zipper merge and how dumbasses like him were causing a traffic jam. People suck at driving.
