I rode to work today and right after I changed lanes to pass some slower traffic in the left lane this woman in a blue Honda Accord whips into my lane almost clouting me. I had to swerve pretty hard to avoid getting hit by her.

Still, it wasn't intentional and I'm a pretty level headed guy so I just let it go. Didn't lop off a mirror or flip her off or get out the chains and start breaking windows out of her car. ()🙂

That's because you let all your rage out on the forums instead.

Would road rage decrease if law enforcement enforced impeding laws?
I know I get angry when I get behind some dip shit driving like he/she has no clue. 42 cars lined up behind them and they won't get over.

That's why I like to commute on my bike. I can split lanes (California) and go by them.

In my experience, aggressive drivers are *much* more of a problem than inattentive drivers.

Of course, those same aggressive drivers are usually the ones Road Raging in the first place...

All told, I would think that enforcing other laws (following distance, speed limit, wrecklessness, etc.) would go further in reducing road rage than enforcing impeding laws would.

I never road rage, because I'm never stressed out and late for something while driving. I don't mind driving, and I feel absolutely no pressure to get anywhere any sooner than my car can take me at the posted speed limit. I don't stress over getting behind slow drivers, and I don't get pissed when someone cuts me off. There's no point in forcing myself to enter into a position jockeying competition with the other drivers on the road. What's the prize for winning? Getting home 3.5 minutes earlier? Is that worth driving the whole way home seething in hatred for everyone else on the road?

If people would lighten up and "get there when they get there" that would instantly end road rage.

Ever noticed that everyone you pass on the freeway is a fucking asshole, and everyone faster than you is a fucking idiot?

-George Carlin

California needs to get rid of the lower speed limit for trucks. Until I drive I-5 from LA to the Oregon border did I ever experience the true, full meaning of road rage. Every quarter mile another truck passing another truck, one going 56 to the other's 55.

Not only the slow bastards in the left lane... but those f*ckers who, when one lane is closed for construction or whatever of a two lane highway, think they can fly by the entire line doing 80 MPH and sneak in at the front of the line. If I'm up front and one of these bastards is trying to get in, they're getting a nice dose of the bird. F*ck you, you're waiting just like everyone else.

When I get in that situation, I drift over so half the vehicle is blocking that through access. That forces those that thinly they have the right to bypass the line to swerve onto the shoulder or day behind. The sweet sound of a pissed off horn

There should be a minimum proficiency with driving.

If you're so disabled that you take unfair amounts of everyones time to make a turn, park or other maneuvers besides going in straight line, you need to be re-evaluated.

At least on a highway, I can patiently wait until I can pass someone but on local single lane roads, I'm often stuck behind a indecisive idiot that thinks they can hold up other people behind them. These clueless bastards get mad at you for trying to pass even while you're maintaining the speed limit.

Inattentive drivers are just as bad if not worse. They're not paying attention to their surroundings while driving which is the most important thing to do while driving.

Yes, I get absolutely angriest when some ass won't, for example, take a right at a red due to fear/ineptitude, or won't get the hell out of the way.

Doubtful. The thing is, in your example, the 1st car out of 42 may be going the same speed that 75% of the 42 want to go. So the cop pulls over car #1 and car 2 jets away while car 3 becomes the new car #1. Who is going to pull that one over?

And on this one, if the sign says 'no right on red' then I'm sitting still, unless of course you're talking about idiots who just sit at a standard red light and won't turn right.

I only come across impediment issues in the HOV lane, but only about 25% of the time. People are good about driving over 65 on the expressways and parkways here. When that yahoo decides the HOV lane is their personal cruising lane at 55/60, that's when I feel like running them off the road. I used to rage more when I was younger... now I have more patience.

Would be nice if people just drove like they aren't the only people on the road. Seems like a lot of people are completely oblivious to what is going on around them when driving. That and using a little common sense would go a long way IMO.

so you want to cause an accident? that aint cool.
i just sidestep folks like you and go over the shoulder.

Why would it cause an accident? Run into my back while they are driving where they are not supposed to. given that, they are going to have one anyhow by that attitude.
People are driving where they are not supposed to. Just reminding them of that. If they want to take a chance on the shoulder or play barrel weave, that is their option.

They were warned back there that it was one lane.

Anger is an inside thing. No law or enforcement of a law would ever fix it.
Having said that, my biggest issue is people running reds. I am surprised we dont have more accidents.

as usual, you're wrong. FoBoT was right on the money with the 'zipper' merge. surprised a lot of you don't know any better.

You can only have speed limits or impeding, you can't have both. Either you have to stay under a certain speed or you have to go fast enough not to disrupt traffic, there is no middle ground.

The most effective would be people chilling the f**k out and realizing that race to get to your next shopping experience so you can just reduce savings/increase debt can wait and isn't important at all.

I find it simply amazing how easily people are willing to take other peoples safety into their hands because they are in such a hurry. Slow down and relax.. you are a loser if you care that damn much to rage over a person going 10 under. If that really gets to you that badly then what happens when life deals you a REAL problem?
