Would road rage decrease if law enforcement enforced impeding laws?
I know I get angry when I get behind some dip shit driving like he/she has no clue. 42 cars lined up behind them and they won't get over.

That's why I like to commute on my bike. I can split lanes (California) and go by them.

It would for me definitely.. It is exceptionally bad around here ~The good news, if there is light truck traffic the right 2 lanes are usually wide open while the left 2 are clogged with morons doing 20-35 stop and go.

are you suggesting that 98% of the cars being 'impeded' are not exceeding/or attempting to exceed, the posted speed limit?

which law takes precedence?
or i guess they can just ticket everyone, sounds like a win-win

If people would just stop acting like the existing laws (including speeding and following too close) don't apply to them...road rage incidents would be reduced anyway.

All vehicles should be outfitted with a roll cage and massive steel bumpers. Oh, you want to drive slow? Pit maneuver b*tch!

Not only the slow bastards in the left lane... but those f*ckers who, when one lane is closed for construction or whatever of a two lane highway, think they can fly by the entire line doing 80 MPH and sneak in at the front of the line. If I'm up front and one of these bastards is trying to get in, they're getting a nice dose of the bird. F*ck you, you're waiting just like everyone else.

If there were no roads, there would be no road rage. :hmm:

dude, trail rage was a big problem back in the 1850's

olds!

You saggy balled bastard. We missed ya!

The problem around here is that there are no police on the highways. If there are, they are going after HVT's and not slow pokes, signal noncomformists or even speeders. Luckily the public at large is good about this. One person will tailgate the offender to an extreme and the person in the right lane will slow down to allow the idiot over. In the off chance he doesn't get the hint, its not uncommon for him to get passed on the right then have someone cut him off and jam on his brakes, forcing him over.

I think one thing that Oldsmoboat was trying to get at is that while speeding is not legal, neither is blocking traffic. It seems most states at least have a law that says, "yield to faster traffic in the left lane" and some that mandate how long you can even be in the left lane.

The worst is when you get someone that wants to pass the guy in front of him, but the passer is only going 1 MPH over the "passee".

that merge is there to ease the flow of traffic. if everyone waited, it would get worse. someone merging in front of you isn't a personal attack against you. although it seems to shatter your frail ego.

around here people with big trucks or 18 wheelers will often move to the middle and block both lanes
if only people were properly trained to use the 'zipper merge'

If I'm doing 65 in a 65 and someone is flying up doing 85 behind me, should I get out of the way? Does it matter that I'm a legal speed and the other person is not?

Ease the flow of traffic? That's why there are signs 4 miles before the merge happens. People are well aware the lane is closed 4 miles ahead. If everyone got over with a continuous flow of traffic in one lane, there wouldn't be an issue. That's the point of the signs. People cutting others off where the yield actually happens is what stops traffic. Or maybe it's my frail ego. Yea, that's what it is... 😕

Yes you should get out of the way, I hope you aren't just driving in the left lane anyone. Let alone doing 65 in a 65 in the left lane.

I rode to work today and right after I changed lanes to pass some slower traffic in the left lane this woman in a blue Honda Accord whips into my lane almost clouting me. I had to swerve pretty hard to avoid getting hit by her.

Still, it wasn't intentional and I'm a pretty level headed guy so I just let it go. Didn't lop off a mirror or flip her off or get out the chains and start breaking windows out of her car. ()🙂

LOL, so you know how old people speed up when you try to pass them? My mom told me a second hand story from my grandmother. Apparently if some one tied to pass my great grandmother while she was riding in her horse drawn wagon she'd whip the horse to try and block them from passing. Apparently this behavior predates the automobile. I know people get sidewalk rage, I have from time to time.

I listen to books on CD now and it makes my ride a lot more fun. I know nothing is going to happen to improve all the dumbshit going on on the road so I might as well enjoy my 10 under the speed limit lane blocking clusterfuck ride to work in other ways.
