Would cleaning dishes with rubbing alcohol...

be a very good idea? It seems like it would be the best way to disinfect something with out getting sick from eating off of it (apposed to cleaning with acetone or ammonia).

you need some germs to strengthen your immune system. If you lived in a sterile bubble all your life you'd be ill super quick if you ever wondered into the real world.

no but try mixing some ammonia and bleach, makes a great cleaner

EDIT please do not attempt this unless you are a trained professional or complete idiot EDIT

Man, don't even kid about something like this. My wife did this 20 years ago and almost died! She didn't know that it made a deadly gas.

Nothing like breathing in a gas that turns the lungs to liquid!

yes

If I'm not mistaken ammonia + bleach = "Chlorine gas" ... some nasty stuff that the Germans came up with in WWI.

Anyway, since most dishwasher detergent is made of bleach, it does a great job sanitizing dishs ... when I brew beer I clean the bottles in it & havn't had a contaminated batch yet... btw ammonia is also a very effective sanitizer, but is somwhat more toxic then bleach & requires more rinsing to clean out.

yes

And as I stated before, Chlorine gas actually DOES liquify the lungs because it turns the normal fluid in there into an acid that eats away at the lining. If you truely want to die, or have someone very close to you die, go ahead and mix the two. The hazmat team takes awhile to assemble and respond, so breathe deep!

I was about to ask how that reaction made cyanide 😛 Now plasma etching a nitride with CHF3 will produce HCN!
