Would buying two Xbox 360s be a good idea?

Thinking of getting a 360, and I'm wondering if I should get two arcade units, and get the accessories for one, and keep the second one as a spare should the first one RROD/E74 on me or something and I be forced to send it off.

Is that a good idea?

just get one, and pick up another if/when your main breaks. i think jasper units are supposed to be indestructible (harhar). but seriously, just pick up a jasper and see how far it'll get you.

And are there any in-store replacement plans that let you take the thing back to the store and exchange it rather than having to deal with microsoft?

i guess so, if there's no instore replacement plans that will let me take the thing back and exchange it

Best Buy's options: http://www.bestbuy.com/olspage...00050033&type=category (both cost extra; I'm not sure if they cover the RRoD failure)

I believe Sam's Club's return policy is as good as Costco's.

Why would you buy two? As long as they're Jaspers I doubt you'll have RRoD problems. Might as well put the extra $199 to buy some games instead.

What about the E74/not reading disks error?

And about that product replacement plan, is it a one-time use thing where it cancels out after you have to exchange the Xbox for another one or does it stick no matter what for the said determined time(like 2 years)?

I've never bought a Product Replacement Plan, but I think it's a one-time replacement; you then buy another PRP for the new Xbox. Be sure to read and verify that it covers the RRoD before you buy any kind of warranty. Don't ask a Best Buy employee, they'll lie to you.

Alright, so i guess I'll consider an Xbox and a PRP instead of getting two. I've heard that now with the new jaspers the problem is no longer RROD but E74. Should I still get a 360 or stick with my PS3 and get a bunch of games for that?

I think this E74 stuff going around is being blown out of proportion.

Alright, I guess I'll get the Xbox and a PRP from Best Buy(I hope the PRP is multi-use just in case my luck is really bad).

Good lord Microsoft is geniuses. They build a shitty product that people inexplicably want so bad that they're willing buy TWO of them just in case one breaks!

I can't speak for BB's, Circuit City's RPP plan was one-time use. However, they reimburse you what you paid, so if it dropped in price, you still get the full retail cost when you bought it.

Alright I got a Red Limited Edition 360 from Walmart with a 2-year extended warranty that begins after microsofts 1-year warranty ends.

Here's hoping it doesn't mess up.

Not "inexplicable" at all - it's very easy to explain. Aside from the high failure rate it's a great system with a great online service and a great collection of games. Yeah it's a shitty quality product (or at least has been), but it's an excellent game system.

Someone here said Wal-mart does an on the spot, in-store swap out for you, so you won't even have to mail it off, if it bricks while under their coverage.

The inexplicable part is that people are willing to buy two just in case.
