Worst Tech support ever by Apple

Well the thing is now with this letter I received from Apple. They want to charge me for the RAM module that I returned the second time. They say that it does not match the description from the box. Its their mistakes and they are now BLAMING it on me.
 
thanks for the support, guys 🙂 I have been very patient with them, and hoping that they will come through, however, this letter I got this evening is the last straw.
 
You should see if you can get Jobs' personal email from you boss at pixar or whatever.... explain to him that your a pixar employee and if he responds I bet he would make sure you get the right thing and fix all your return issues.
 
Maybe but I bet since apple support has a good name, I dont think Steve would want that name tarnished (lord knows you already are paying for it 😉 ).... he might want to investigate it to make sure it doesnt happen again because I would bet apple sells alot of laptop memory upgrades and if it happened to you it will happen again.
 
apple users are too ignorant to change their RAM anyway, so why should they bother sending the correct module?

i think the IBM T42p is the lightest notebook in that class. But the powerbooks are still nice.

I would go to the apple store and not leave until i got the right ram. Take it out of a display laptop, take it out of a new powerbook. That is ridiculous.

Steve never was a programmer, that was Woz. Steve is the guy that actually figured out how to sell these things, and then figured out how to make it better, and sell more of them. Steve knows jack about hardcore technology, but he has a business/leadership sense and style that's one of the best.

You are right, the T42 is the lightest in it's class, but I don't think the 15 inch Powerbook is considered in the same class. I think the 12 inch and T42 would be both considered in the same class.
 
gentobu'advice sounds the best if you want to keep your Mac, but unless you have no choice, I'd say the best thing to do would be to RMA the whole unit & replace it with a Win XP based laptop, not only is XP
much better then any version of windows before it, I've seen those Apple displays next to the newest 15 &
17 inch Sonys & man, I'm sorry to say that if you think the Apple looks better, then its time to see an eye doctor (no sarcasm intended).... although I admit that Sony doesn't inspire the highest degree of confidence in me as far as their notebooks do, those displays are about the best thing I've seen on
ANY computer of any type, including high-end CRT's.... the only downer is the laptop will be larger & heavier, but it will be considerably faster too.... whatever you do though, I feel your pain & I hope you get things straightened out... I just went through a similar experience with an Asus motherboard, which took 4 tries to correct, so bad tech support is by no means limited to Apple.
 
Could you call the BBB on them? I'd do something.

If you're unhappy with a company, and they won't make it right, you have to hit them where it hurts. The media.

Write to every Apple-product related magazine/website and tell them this exact story. Hopefully it will embarrass Apple into fixing the problem. If not, at least you might raise some hell.

Eh, from what I figure, they are thinking you're trying to screw *them* - receive an SO-DIMM module, send back a regular DIMM module that costs half as much, and claim mistake was on their end. The person who receives the DIMM looks into database, sees that a SO-DIMM module was sent (after all, the package label was for SO-DIMM, and that's most likely how it went into database) and arrives to conclusions. Considering your case has been handled by a dozen different people, who most likely don't even know of each other's existence, and are connected only through company database, the results are predictable...
 
TAKE IT BACK! Put the bad ram back in, return it or exchange it for a different one. If that does not work call the corporate offices directly, no more tech support, no more idiots, just the people who can make it happen.
