Yeah, that was pretty terrible. The vocals kept cutting in-and-out and none of them can sing without a computer synthesizing it. And the wardrobe was historical if that is what they were going for.

I dont mind the BEP's music. not my top pick but doesnt bug me. im pretty open to all types of music.

What killed it for me was the piss poor quality of the show. They drop in a nd start and the mics are all to low. gets to Fergie and her mic didnt even sound on, then was way lower then everyone elses then towards the end was finally decent. usher was the same way when he joined. Couldnt hear him hardly at all. Sound wise it just sounded like crap. Just terrible audio quality. The dancers and stage were cool but also messed up at times. Just seemed like a last minute deal.

I more blame the audio guys behind the scenes for making this such a poor half time show. If it had gone smooth it would have been way better (in my mind)

The sound was terrible.

Fergie looked hot though and I don't think they were lip synching...much.

I liked the glow in the dark outfits. Was a neat effect.

But the sound was awful and ruined the whole show for me.

I think it was a mixing problem because the Who sounded decent as did U2 a few years ago. Perhaps someone totally screwed up or perhaps the guy doing to mixing was watching it live and not via a tv and didn't realize how bad it sounded on TV.

Hell it could have sounded awesome in person. It seemed like there was no music coming through the TV mix at all, just what the mics were picking up in the background.

I'd rather have had Barney up there dancing and singing. Wouldn't have sounded as shitty as those people did.

The real villains here were who the hell ever was running the sound mixing. That was bar none the worst live mixing I've ever heard.

I have no opinion of BEP.

That's because those bands have real talent

I would rather listen to Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend shit explosive diarrhea into a paint can than listen to the Black Eyed Peas on their very best day.

Not quite how I would have phrased it, but I agree with the sentiment.

It did sound horrible but I have never liked the BEP's so i didn't pay much attention. The Fergie/Slash duet was just wierd yet probably the best part of the show. Ushers dance show was meh at best. But actually I've never seen a really outstanding SB halftime show, the format just doesn't lend itself to a good musical performance. Usually the most entertaining part is the organization and man power required for the get on, get off and in that department this one was about normal.

Yeah it isn't that the BEP's music is bad, the whole thing was just poorly executed.

U2 was awesome. The Who was bad, singing off key.

I was actually picturing their costums catching fire while the dancers kept on going on the field while pure anarchy insues on the main stage.

I actually don't mind bad super bowl half time shows. I mean - I want to watch the game and the commercials so it provides a perfect time to get more a bathroom break and to get more food/beer

But yeah, they were bad

Here's the big question: did Fox dub in the cheering in the background? When you could see the crowd in shots, everyone appeared to be just sitting there (probably wondering who the hell forgot all the synthesizers that make the crappy voices/singing sound "cool")

Easily the worst performance ever. Slash was the only thing resembling talent on that stage.

The Who was worse.

Please. Those 80+ year old geezers had more energy and life than those clowns on the stage tonight.

Easily the worse Half-time show I've seen, I hope whoever paid them to perform received a refund.

I though the stage, directing, and all around concept was pretty good. BEP is pathetic and were horrid, though. Had they just had 1 camera from the bleachers, I think it would have been awesome.

From the Superbowl thread:

Everything about this BEP halftime show is fantastic except for the talent of the BEP. The actual set is mindblowing. They should not be focusing on those pathetic rappers* They should have just centered the camera in the bleachers like they normally do in college.

***Fergi is not included in rappers, because she is just a terrible singer who tries to cut her rythm as hip hop, and fails spectacularly. Fail is the only thing she can do spectacularly.

Eh. BEP is only good in the studio. Anyone knows that they blow live. Especially Fergie. She's always a half a note off in tone. She's been this bad since 2004 and still as bad today. She just can't sing.

BEP is only good after copious amounts of cocaine, especially because much of the world supply has a bovine hormone that causes brain damage. That was only cool because the people who designed the set. BEP inhibited the awesomeness of that event.

You are the anti-taste.

Prince was the shit, those jokers tonight are talentless hacks.

Edit: Should have got that dude from Chicago to sing the anthem. That guy sings with balls, great big ones.

Hands down, the worst half-time show I've ever seen.

I agree with Drebo about the "pre-game" singing as well.

Just sing the fucking songs the way they're written...they're not "Pop music" that can be improvised to suit your liking.
Folks in the stadiums should start booing every performer who tries to "hip up" the Star Spangled Banner.

The cheering was for the images on the jumbotron.

I thought it was awesome, that guy with the suit with the shifting lights and then the red heart in the middle was awesome.

The sound was really bad though.

Don't get me wrong, I like The Who's music, but Daltrey was HORRIBLE. I guess at least the music wasn't bad though.

And frankly, this year whomever was running the mixing board should have been fired after the first 10 seconds of the show. So many horrible drop outs on the mics and audio I couldn't keep up.
