The worst one I can remember buying is one of the STALKER games a few months ago. Even with the Complete 2009 Mod it is an awful, unfinished mess.

I am kind of curious here. "If" Bioware were to recant and actually go back to the drawing board. If they were to start again with a PC only with intent to upgrade and improve DA:O based on feedback from the community on what worked and what didn't work (from both the DA:O and DA2 forums). If all of this increasingly impossible suppostion were to happen, would you at least test drive the "New" game? Or has Bio totally torpedoed that line for ever and all time in your mind?

Unfortunately EA owns them now, so there's even less than a 0% chance of that happening. :\

I couldn't get into stalker (call of pripyat) either. Which was strange because the game has almost universal praise....

UI and graphics are extremely dated, NPC's don't seem interesting at all.

Red Faction 2.
System Shock 2 (couldn't stand the graphics).
Jedi Knight 1 (couldn't stand the graphics).

Uh, wow. If there's 1 game that definitely makes my top 5 games of all time list, it is system shock 2. Game is a masterpiece

So agreed 100%. this is merely a hypothetical scenario. There is no chance of it happening, but I was curious what the concensus among gamers would be if (in an alternate universe) it were to happen.

Then sure, I would be very likely to look into the game more and see if things have changed. Still wouldn't buy it based on their word alone.

Doom 3 and Quake 4, I'm big into 1v1 deathmatch and was used to the OSP and CPMA competitive mods for Quake 3. D3 and Q4 are just garbage.

Pong.

Worst, buggiest game ever. And I could never get the graphics to look right.

When someone lists a decent/mediocre game as the worst thing they've ever bought, all I can think of is "Wow that person must steal a lot of games" because that is the only way some of these are the worst games ever purchased.

Well, speaking only for myself, I only buy about 2 games every 3 years and I never buy new releases. I have enough to do with a job, wife, kid, house, etc that I can be very discriminating with my time and money. I bought and played KOTOR in 2008 and didn't bother with KOTOR2 since I knew it was trash. I bought DA:O just two months ago and won't bother with DA2.

Even allowing that my waiting periods can be extreme it's not hard to not waste your money if you just wait a few months before every purchase.

I could be wrong, but I think the point of the comment is that even the most descerning consumer is bound to end up with something that is trash. And therefore the point where people are mentioning medeocre games as the "Worst Game" they purchased, perhaps aren't either understanding or are merely focusing differently than the point of the thread (hypothetically). Not that it "Couldn't be" as they state. just that it seems a bit suspect.

As for Kotor2, did you like Kotor? Because if you did, you would probably enjoy Kotor2. it got a lot of flack for being un-finished, and the story line was a bit more rigid than Kotor1, but I wouldn't list it as "Trash". Of course, if you have only limited time to play and have to be selective in your purchases, there are other better games out there. Just saying, don't "Buy into the hype" about it being "Trash". It merely didn't live up to a lot of people's expectations and so got more than a bad rep because of it.

In the end, not every game that is labeled as "Trash" is. Nor is every "highly rated AAA game" great. I personally think that the GTA series as a whole is abysmal and unforgivable for it. That is not the general consensus. But it shows that people can find "Great" games not to their taste and therefore fall into the category of "Worst".

World of Warcraft

Not so much because it was a bad game but rather because of the time and money invested, $1600+ and roughly 3% of my current time spend on earth out the window.

wow lol

I agree; that's why I purchased ToEE and Sins and also why I found them to be slow and boring. They were fairly highly touted and despite the consensus I felt they were pretty poor.

Games like KOTOR2 could be good but for someone with limited time and no drive to be on the cutting edge buying only A/A+/95+/9+ rated games has a much better success ratio. I might "miss" the experience by never playing KOTOR2 but I certainly won't miss it, ya know?

I do feel pretty comfortable in knowing that I will never be subject to wasting my time with a Daikatana or Battlecruiser 3000AD quality game and that suits me just fine.

Well i have to update my number 1 choice and i didn't pay for it but i played a bit on and off for a while and its....Battlefieldplayforfree .

Got back into it tonight to remember why i simply don't play it...campers , stupid aimbot hackers and god awful spawn points....just played for 10 mins i managed to get killed by some guy and not once but 3 times i spawn right where he just killed me and well go figure i pull a 1/4 ratio in a matter of 3 mins...

I finally spawn elsewhere i see a enemy about 100 feet away i fire a freaking lmg and am getting good bullet contact and and good aim i'm downed by a lousy hand pistol while his health is registering 43% talk about bad weapon balance and hit registry...

Game wasn't installed for even 20 mins and i already had to remove it that's pretty bad...

Dragon Age was pretty bad.

The only saving grace was listening to the banter between party members. Especially Claudia Black.

Otherwise, combat was shit, art style was shit, story was shit, overall feel of the game was shit.

Another bad purchase was Command and Conquer. Steam held a sale one day and I blew $27 bucks buying them. And I played them for like 2 hours and went back to Warcraft 3

No no no no NO! Stop trying to peddle this idea!

There is a major difference between a good game that doesn't fit my first (like Civ IV...I recognize it is a good game but I just don't like it.) and a plain BAD game.

An objectively bad game (DA2) has nothing to do with taste. It is just a BAD game.

For me it's no question, easily the worst game I've personally ever purchased was this turd:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pool_of_Radiance:_Ruins_of_Myth_Drannor

Pools of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor

I played the shit out of the original Pools back in the day, so I was stoked when I saw this was coming out...hard to believe it was 10 years ago. Anyway, the main problem for me was stability. This was easily the least stable game I'd ever played. Crashes; corrupt saved games; after weeks of banter with "support" (even their forums were unstable) I finally uninstalled it and never looked back.

I vowed I'd never purchases another Ubisoft game and so far I've kept my word.

Whats the worst purchase you'll admit to, and why was it so bad?

Holy hell, I saw your thread on the main forum page and before I could even read it I said to myself wth was that horrible pools of something game? Clicked on the thread and blam! haha

...Worst game evar..

Master of Orion 3. What a disappointment, especially compared to the first 2.

Restricted Area, how hard could it be to make a decent Diablo style of game? Evidently too hard for them.
