Worst OCer on the planet

I must be the worst in the world. I'm pretty new to overclocking but i read through the guides on a few forums and figured I'd try my hand at it. From what I've read most 3.2Cs are getting in the 3.5-3.6 range on air. I set my memory timings down to 3-3-3-8 and tried cranking the FSB up a little at a time from the BIOS. Anything over 215 and the computer freezes or runs screwy, even when I raise the vcore to 1.625 volts. At 215 the computer functions normally but Prime95 will only run for 5 minutes before I get an error. My temps are 32C idle and 50C during a torture test. What am I doing wrong?

That' a myth. What they mean is 3.5-3.6 on excellent high rpm air. What are your temps at the 3.44 OC? How low is your fan mate set on the Zalman? Remeber for every 10C you can get about 100 more Mhz.

Could be ram, could be mobo, or the chip could be maxed out. What code is it and is it a 30 cap?

if it's retail, i think it's written on the package box.
it's also on the chip itself on top of the heatspreader.

I probably threw away the box and I'd rather not take the HS off and reapply the thermal compound. I don't know if this helps but I donwloaded CPU-Z and it says that my chip is from Family F, Model 2, Stepping 9, revision D1. Does that help with anything?

Is your PCI/AGP bus speed locked, or varying with FSB?

Yea about your voltage, you should use motherboard monitor 5 to monitor your voltages and Fan RPM. Because when I selected 1.65 volts in the bios for the core it was actually 1.63! Which made my system horrible at overclocking with all kinds of stability issues. I wasnt even able to push my 2.8C to 3.0ghz with out getting errors in prime 95. So I increased the voltage until MBM5 detected that the actual voltage was 1.65 (1.7 voltage selection in bios). After getting to 1.65 Volts I was able to overclock my processor to 3.5GHZ.

Try your RAM timings at 3-4-4-8....I know there isn't much of a difference....I have PC4000 and it won't operate well when OC'ed @ 3-3-3-8, even though thats what SPD detects it at.

If that doesn't get you over the hump be certain to start your overclocking venture with the ram running 1:1.

Temps aren't going to hold him back @ such a low OC. And he posted his temps in the first thread.....they are fine..
