Grolsch isn't skunky from the brewery. That's the fault of someone, somewhere along your supply chain. Beers get skunked when they are allowed to get too warm and then are cooled again.
QFT and that's exactly why I quit buying any imports.

You forgot Pacifico, Carta Blanca, and Victoria. My list goes: Pacifico/Dos Equis, Modelo/Victoria, Sol, Tecate, Corona. It is worth noting that they have the same mega-brewing groups and that all of these beers are made by only two groups.

I don't really drink European beer anymore, I know I like SPG more than Grolsch, although neither one really excites me.

I'm a big fan of Dos Equis Amber when at a bar with it that doesn't have better options. Idk what it is, but I greatly prefer it to most of the beers from Central America (those Mexican ones plus Imperial, Panamá, etc.).

That said, I usually drink a couple American IPAs (Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA and Southern Tier IPA) but sometimes a nice European lager isn't a bad thing. It really depends on the beer tho -- any of the major European brands can taste terrible. I usually try to stick with Warsteiner because it comes in a brown bottle or Heineken because it is widely available, but Spaten is incredible if you can find it unskunked.

And of course, if you are stuck out at a bar with no really good options, it goes Labbatt Blue, Molson Golden, Molson Canadian, then PBR in the order of things to order.

Good one. It's like water. I can't believe people pay premium beer prices for them at bars. I'd say it's the worst of the Mexican beers in order: Dos Equis Lager, Modelo Especial, Tecate, Sol, Corona.

You forgot Pacifico. It is probably my favorite Mexican beer.

Corona is hit or miss for me. You tend to get a lot of skunky ones, but when you gets one that aren't skunky, I think they're pretty good, smooth, and you can pound them back pretty easy. It's that damn clear bottle that's the problem. Nevertheless, compared to Miller, Bud, and the worst domestic of all, Coors, Corona is like nectar of the gods.

WTF are you talking about? Grolsch is fantastic beer. It's probably my favourite mass produced beer.

I have to agree with Nebor. I was given some Grolsch and was excited but was shocked at how skunky it was. Sure, it could've been that the beer wasn't treated well (cooled, warmed, and then cooled again), but it was pretty bad.

I've had a lot of really bad beers from local breweries lately. Sometimes, I think these small local operations think they can push out any piss and people will drink it since the "in" thing to do is drink beers from local breweries. There is absolutely, positively, no way a couple of those beers I had last weekend could be considered good by anyone. They tasted like medicine -- very, very bad medicine.

This man has good tastes!

I'd say your list is roughly backwards, with Corona being the worst.

I think he was going from best to worst.

As far as the worst I can remember, there was this El Salvadoran or Guatemalan beer a few years ago that made a push into the super markets. It was pretty bad. I can't remember the name of it and couldn't seem to find it on tobp.com, but I remember it had a salamander or lizard as its logo.

EDIT: I think it was this one -- called Caguama (it was a turtle, not a lizard):

I think some people like what I call a skunky beer. To me Heinekin is skunky. but others love it.

That's exactly why I like Corona. It's the skunkiness I enjoy. I don't get it often, but if I didn't get a bottle that tasted weird, I'd be disappointed.

Heineken is my least favorite by far. I'll drink almost anything else given the choice.

Also Stella. what a freaking horrible excuse for a "Belgian" beer.

Grolsch, Heineken, St. Pauli's Girl, Spaten, Fosters, Corona, Tsingtao, Saporro, Kirin and Red Stripe are all fucking awful. I don't know how they became popular enough to be imported here, and subsequently popular here after being imported.

Spaten isn't all bad.

They make Optimator, which is a super great value:

Oh, and Kirin isn't imported. It is not only made by AB, but it is Budweiser, with a dragon on the label. Don't believe? compare for yourself. They managed to put Budweiser in some different cans and charge a premium price. lulz.

skunking is due to light and oxygen. so how do you keep things from getting skunked? leave very little air at the top and use a brown bottle. so, it is the brewery's fault for using green bottles.

and caguama is terrible, but maybe not as bad as cantina. caguama had the benefit of being dirt cheap (case for like $10).

I've got a couple of six packs of Spaten Optimator on the shelf. It's good stuff. Around ~8% ABV too. They don't carry Spaten lager at the class 6 here. :(

hey, I was shocked. I picked up a case (12 pack) at Ranch 99 some months back b/c I was there buying Asian food (Well, naturally).

Of course, as an Asian Market, all of the beer there is absolute shit. Strangely, though, they had these 12-packs of Kirin for 8 dolla! it was strange. I never liked Kirin, always thought it was flavorless and boring, but at 40% off the normal price, I figured, why not? I could do with a "Crisp, flavorless fail lager."

well, the cans said "Brewed by AB." Brewed--not distributed. I was like, eh, don't recall that. But they've been buying up everyone.

then I opened one, took a few sips....D: IT'S FUCKING BUDWEISER! It was. no doubt about it. I've had a lot of Budweiser in my life, and the taste of fail rice beer is unmistakable.

Now, here's the thing--this being Ranch 99, and them selling this for 8 dolla/12--I would not be surprised if this is some knock-off beer imported from China. I've never heard of such a thing, but buying up a shit load (or diverting) cans manufactured for Kirin Ichiban and filling them with Budweiser and then exporting back to the USA would not surprise me with China, lol.
