Wow... how on earth can a poll about the worst gaming company not include SOE? That's like a best athlete poll omitting Gretzky and Jordan.

Someone needs to launch an Anandtech spin off of this poll. Maybe have 4 polls in the OP, the best / worst publisher and the best / worst developer.

What is with everyones hatred twoards EA?

I think thats kind of a dumb poll, every company has made good games and every company has made bad games. There is no one company that is the worst and continually makes horrible games; if there were, they wouldnt be in business.

WOW! My life is only so long and I can only give you so much info.

EA is hated because they make rotten, overpriced games, they buy out good companies and then squash them and their excellent games or at least mutate and defile good games until they are crap. The only good games they have are the ones they publish but someone else actually makes. And they usually cause those games to be crappy and delayed.

Not to be overly critical but I dont think you know much about business.
The quality of a product has almost nothing to do with its sucess or the sucess of a company. Marketing, advertising and public relations generally sell much better than a good product. Also, crushing the competition with corporate strong arm tactics is a good idea too.

I'm suprised Blizzard got as many votes as it did.
I didnt care much for WoW and I dont think Starcraft and Diablo II are the greatest games ever made, but by and large they only put out good products with lots of fun factor and pretty decent support.
Yes they delay stuff and take their time with new announcements but they dont put out tons of crap just to make a quick buck (like EA for example).

EA is the biggest publisher by far.
EA puts out the most games so without EA most games wouldn't be.
Which is just fine by me. Most games suck these days anyhow, and EA is the main reason. The put out crap and stay in business and too many other companies have followed their lead.

Yup, I'm not happy at all with their support of Command and Conquer. I mean I sometimes (once every week or two) have Generals Zero hour crash for no apparant reason (it's not heat, and the hardware is up to snuff). We're talking about 2003 game, not the '98 original here, it shouldn't be that hard to make it run right on XP. Not to mention this is off The First Decade, an updated compilation that's supposed to be A-OK. I'm told the original games are almost unplayable because of bugs that still exist, though I don't play those so I don't know.

As an average they are easily not only the worst but by far the most overrated as well.

EDIT: Blizzard and Bungie are tailing slightly behind iD in my book, for what it's worth.

EDIT #2: I got vote 1337, w00t!

Yes, out of all the developers in the world, lets list ones that have made it into the hall of fames. Hmmmm, or maybe this is just some ridiculous bias.

Yea, Romero worked for Ion Storm. They Made Daikatana, Some really bad RTS.. Dominance or Domination I think, Anachronox and Deus Ex. But the team that did Anachronox / Deus Ex was really good.

Well, considering ebaumsworld is the worst web site of all time, I think it's better not to vote.

-but there are only about 4 or 5 candidates

SOE (Sony Online Entertertainment). Can't believe they left that one out. I despise them.

EA is the WORST

My personal experience concerns Battlefield 2, which btw was looking solid before DICE had EAs input before release. One of the implementations that most angered me and alsmost the entire community is there TOTAL lack of widescreen support. You had to use a command line hack just to strech it accross a widescreen, and an actual widescreen FOV wasn't possible! Before every patch, every player i knew would petition and yell on the forums, but EA remained adimant that no one would care if they left it out. They lost most of the serious BF2 gamers i know from buying BF2142 because they didn't EVER put a correct widescreen FOV change in.

I HATE EA for the whole fiasco, as i had just purchased a brand new viewsonic for bf2, widescreen of course.

The list goes on of companies and franchises EA destroyed, they are the scourge of gaming.

They have lost mine and many others buisness forever.
