Something tells me that an admin gave EA Games a thousand extra votes, but oh well. iD Software gets my vote. The best game with their name on it wasn't even developed by them (Return to Castle Wolfenstein) and the best game they actually made was admitted by Carmack (or was it Romero?) to being Ultima Underworld with an inferior engine and almost all gameplay features cut, Doom. As an average they are easily not only the worst but by far the most overrated as well.

EDIT: Blizzard and Bungie are tailing slightly behind iD in my book, for what it's worth.

I think thats kind of a dumb poll, every company has made good games and every company has made bad games. There is no one company that is the worst and continually makes horrible games; if there were, they wouldnt be in business.

even if EA doesn't make too bad of games (some are decent but most are bloat) - they still have the worst policies of any company in game development imo
from making employees work as slaves, to their management of sequels and licensing

I thought we were talking about game makers. Talking about the worse publisher doesn't really work because they aren't responsible for crappy games. And likewise, you don't really praise a publisher for a great game. Far Cry was made by Crytek. Many gamers falsely give credit to Ubisoft when they haven't even created a decent game in recent years for PC fans. The last one I remember was Ghost Recon 1. But after that they sold out to the console.

Let's judge companies on the games they make. If not for EA, many many games would not be.

It'll be like praising Best Buy for selling these top games. Go back to the creator.

What is Rainbow Six supposed to be? A realistic tactical simulation or an arcade shooter?

If you like arcade shooters then Rainbow Six rocks for you. But I'm old skool. Bring back the gameplay of Rogue Spear. Ubisoft took the whole rainbow six franchise to the console. I'm not against consoles. Just that bringing a tactical simulation to a console doesn't work.

I agree that Ubi is worse than EA. Some of their recent games have redefined the term "bloatware" and they also have a much worse record of using intrusive copy protection software.

Both Ubi and EA have brought out a number of excellent games in the past, so you can't really distinguish between them on that basis.

No, I don't think the vote is rigged. I read the OP, and immediately knew I was going to vote for EA before I even saw the list. Not surprised at all that it's a landslide.

Yes there are many other publishers that have made worse games than the ones EA have put out.... thing is, they didnt wreck a good franchise. EA has wrecked simcity for me, they tried with c&c i think, but it just wasent enough. They were my favorite games since i was a kid and i know all game series's die eventually due to lack of interest or whatever, but they shouldnt be killed off due to corporate greed and laziness. I dont know who owns blizzard, i think its still vivendi but kudos to them for letting blizzard get on with what they do best and not rushing them. I would probably quit gaming altogether if blizzard got taken over by EA.

Oh, and remember just not too long ago? Lego Star Wars II for the pc, first disc wouldnt install? Remember the patch for it? You literally have to dowload the whole 700mb disc1!

WOW! My life is only so long and I can only give you so much info.

EA is hated because they make rotten, overpriced games, they buy out good companies and then squash them and their excellent games or at least mutate and defile good games until they are crap. The only good games they have are the ones they publish but someone else actually makes. And they usually cause those games to be crappy and delayed.

Not to be overly critical but I dont think you know much about business.
The quality of a product has almost nothing to do with its sucess or the sucess of a company. Marketing, advertising and public relations generally sell much better than a good product. Also, crushing the competition with corporate strong arm tactics is a good idea too.

I'm suprised Blizzard got as many votes as it did.
I didnt care much for WoW and I dont think Starcraft and Diablo II are the greatest games ever made, but by and large they only put out good products with lots of fun factor and pretty decent support.
Yes they delay stuff and take their time with new announcements but they dont put out tons of crap just to make a quick buck (like EA for example).

Which is just fine by me. Most games suck these days anyhow, and EA is the main reason. The put out crap and stay in business and too many other companies have followed their lead.
